CHAPTER 8: The Absence of Passion

It is in the accomplishments of the Golden Age of Ancient Greece that the beginning of the destruction of our humanity lies. Our most honored heroes, like Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Pythagoras, and Archimedes bore within their 'democratic philosophy' the virus that truly killed civilization. That virus was the idea of "objective, practical, mathematical and analytical" observations. It was the idea that if you can't see it, measure it, and label it, then it doesn't exist, which became the unfortunate foundation for the elimination of the human imagination and the wonder of true humanity. In Greek philosophy science was an honor and an accomplishment of the "educated", while the human imagination was reduced to the classification of a "hobby, for those with the free time to enjoy art" -- the accepted expressions of the human imagination through paintings, statuary, plays and songs.

It is through the accepted presence of "art" that the remnants of our true "humanity" has been salvaged, by those whose inter-abundance of wonder and awe could not be culled by those who had given up their own humanity. Ancient Greece must be looked at from the aspect that something either existed or had been removed from the early stages of Greek life to explain why the Greeks developed their particular philosophy. Historians to-date have readily acknowledged and accepted that the Greeks created the democratic social philosophy, during a time when no other culture possessed such rational thought (this does not include the Ancient Chinese or Oltec cultures, since most historians are Western and do not recognize the advanced development or accomplishments of non-white cultures). They have always failed to ask "why", though. How did Ancient Greeks balance a logical philosophy with a polytheistic religion? Did the Ancient Greeks really believe that their gods were just arbitrary emotional crutches? Is that why they allowed the Roman Empire to "borrow" them? How did Ancient Greeks justify democracy with savage animosities and conquest between city-states?

All that said, and left unanswered for now, it is not the blame of the Greeks that must be accounted for. The real blame lies with the unholy trilogy. With those later students of history who saw the political and theological advantages of destroying and controlling the human imagination. A careful examination of the development and history of the Hebrew, Christian and Islamic religions presents a horrendous program of "human destruction", under the guise of "proper behavior". The Greeks reduced art and expression to a hobby, but the unholy trilogy turned art and expression into a slave trade where only what they specifically approved of is allowed. I need not remind the reader of our present social arguments on the United States' official funding of the National Endowment for the Arts, just because certain "religious" groups object to the rights of others to "express themselves". Even the holy scriptures have been used by the unholy trilogy to control the freedom of expression within their peasantry. This would ostensibly support the wonder and need for art expression, instead those in charge translate this to...if it ain't for the Lord, you can't do it...and in some, even if it's for the Lord, you can't do it. As demonstrated by many sectarian orders which forbid all paintings, singing, dancing, plays, movies and television, or those which do not directly support and reinforce their particularly narrow-minded view of life. Or forbid them all outright, because they tend to advocate and create human imagination.

I still do not know, at this moment, what the final answer is to this question: what is the truth of life? I have learned that what I was taught to believe is not what I am seeking. My maternal grandfather was a Native American Indian (of the Choctaw tribe), whose tribal practice was a shamanist "pagan" religion. He believed that all things had souls (unseen metaphysical lives), and that Man's prime responsibility was to treat each as if it were an individual. To respect and honor all things. On the other hand, my paternal grandmother was a minister and preacher of a Christian sect (the Assembly of God). Her laws and dogma were such that my own grandfather was a "heathen", a "barbarian", and all things not of her practices were "sins before God".

He taught me to respect all things, she tried to teach me to "hate" all things she did not want. Between the two I saw the reality of religion, that it is only to serve what the individual wants, when they want it, and nothing more. It is not hard to understand why I chose my grandfather's ways, even though that decision as outcast me among my family, and my social group. My parents separated their lives, and chose only to worry about their personal wants and desires. I was left on my own, but I was self-reliant. I tried to find a place for me, and in that search I spent several years as an acolyte in the Episcopalian (Anglican) Church.

The pastors and brethren of this order were earnest in their effort to help me understand the essential teachings, and I respected their faith. I would eventually earn my own entrance into the Holy Order of St. Vincent, an honor given to acolytes who have demonstrated themselves in service. This was an honor I still hold in great respect. But the more I studied and learned, in my search for the truth, the less I could maintain my solace in the background ambiguity of even this sectarian faith. Again, it turned out that these devout and faithful servants of the order had taught me 'what they believed was the truth' based on what they had been taught, rather than 'what was the truth' based on the truth. My search continued.

I found the democratic philosophy of the Greeks a sound and pragmatic new foundation. I would identify, measure, label, and examine all aspects of everything, until I found truth I was searching for. So I did, from history to science, to philosophy and politics, to anthropology and archaeology, to astronomy and astrology, to physics and geology, then back to religion and metaphysics. Then from Hinduism and Buddhism, to Confucianism, Taoism and Zen, to Druidism, to Shamanism, and then back to the unholy trilogy, again. I confirmed my belief that every subject is based on the same "essential teachings" designed to instruct us on how to improve our minds, our bodies, and our spirits. I also confirmed that except for a very small, handful of individual teachers, no separated religion is better than any other.

If you follow, with some effort, the Hindu faith, you will come to Vishnu, the god of all. If you follow the Buddhist Eight-fold Path, with some effort, you will come find the god you seek, yourself. If you follow the Ten Commandments, and the Golden Rule, with some effort, you will eventually come to Heaven, and sit before the throne of God. If you follow the Druid way, you will be invited into the realm of the gods. If you believe in the Tao, and understand the Way, you will come to eternal peace. All of these teach you to go from "here to there". If you believe and work with respect you will get there. And you will know that "all roads lead to Rome". And you won't be any better off than anyone else, once you get there.

In parallel to this time, I had taken up the practice of martial arts. Not as a philosophy but as a physical practice. It was during these studies under my martial sensei that I discovered a philosophy so close to my grandfather's that I found some genuine comfort in it. The martial arts are a physical demonstration of the cultural search I was engaged in. Once I learned to conquer my own flaws and weaknesses, and developed my own strengths and self-confidence, then I could see the path to the Universal life-force. My sensei's philosophy was Taoism, the Way of Nature. He demonstrated that, like the martial arts, I could adapt my "faith" to the values and obligations that I felt best worked for me.

In my martial arts I learned Wing Chun Kung-fu, then Southern Style Praying Mantis, then Hung Gar, then Jeet Kune-Do. The first four were, like religions, "traditional" styles with very dogmatic with formal rituals and ceremonies. But the last, Jeet Kune-Do, was flexible, it allowed me to use whatever technique I required at the moment. This gave me much greater freedom in my physical challenges, and the path to the solution of my spiritual one. It satisfied my need for self-development, but it made no allowance for, nor took account of, many other aspects of the historical questions. So I sought other avenues in my journey to the truth.

Now, I have finally come full circle. I know that what is truth is a measure of all that I have learned, and very little of what I was taught. The true path to humanity lies on a road of personal awareness, individual development, communal responsibility, emotional responsibility, spiritual recognition, and psychic instinct. (The use of the phrase 'psychic instinct' in this statement has probably just discounted all I have written before...for now I am just a "nut". But if you withhold your condemnation for a few moments longer, perhaps I can save my "reputation"...or completely condemn myself.)

Christianity is famous for believing that every chance occurrence in its history is the "beginning of the end". They can readily yell, Armageddon, at the drop of a hat. The Moslems are famous for their fanatical faith that dying in mortal combat with one's enemies brings them immediately into the presence of Allah (I just pray they receive the welcoming they expect). But the Hebrews have, for almost 6,000 years, waited for the first (and only) coming of their Messiah. But where can He or She be?

After all that the Hebrew people have suffered through to maintain their "faith", it seems like their God would have paid back that faith by now. "It has even been seriously suggested that the only reason the Messiah was mentioned at all in Jewish traditional literature was to create so many requirements for validating the Messiah that no one could ever possibly fulfill them. Put in other words, 'we Jews will allow just about anybody to be our teacher but nobody can be our Messiah'!" (Richard Siegel)

"It is the time of Lao... Kick me... What was that?

Again. With emotional content... I said, emotional content,

not anger... Better. How did that feel? (Let me think)

Don't think. Feel.

It is like a finger pointing to the moon...

Don't stare at the finger, or you will miss

all of that heavenly glory."

Bruce Lee, "Enter The Dragon"

Lack of Recognition

Moslems do not recognize Jews as the Chosen People,

Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah,

Protestants do not recognize the Pope as Leader of the Christian World,

Baptists do not recognize each other at Hooters.

Tom Dressen, Stand-up Comic

Scholars today should give in-depth study to what was added to, or taken away from, Greek society to ferment the development of their democratic philosophy. And what has maintained that philosophy as valid for the last 3,000 years. In fact, I can eliminate that study effort (even though none would have accepted the challenge anyway), because what is missing from Ancient Greece, from the unholy trilogy, from science, and from modern society in general is the same thing. And that is "passion" - straight and simple.

Passion is the ability to "feel" strongly about something, anything. Passion is the most fundamental ingredient in the "arts", and in the character of women. Artists are permitted to be passionate in their accomplishments, but their accomplishments are considered only to be hobbies, only recreational to the society-at-large. Artists are not permitted to "be taken seriously", as community leaders, because they lack the practical sense of reality, to "identify, measure, and label" everything. Religious leaders who are truly passionate, "who truly feel the truth of the essential teachings", threaten the political success of the order. Scientists who are truly passionate about their field of study and seek the real answers, are labeled "unstable", because they threaten the "secrecy" of their peers. Politicians who are passionate about their platforms become "fringe idealists", again, threatening the stability of the social order.

In some cases, these "nuts" are truly unstable and dangerous (Jim Jones, David Koresh and the Ayatollah Khomeini). But in an equal number of cases, these "nuts" are the victims of the real stagnation of the human imagination. Such victims are Copernicus, Galileo, Martin Luther, Jesus of Nazareth, Mohammed, Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Noah, Joseph, Joan of Arc, and Martin Luther King (these are just a few).

Please do not jump to any erroneous conclusions that others in history were "religious" fanatics. Such as Torquemada, Rasputin, or my personal favorite Cardinal Richelieu. These were power hungry men who used religion as a blind cover for the political intrigue they desired.

The same arguments and restrictions have been the bane of the female of our specie since the beginning of civilization. They are too passionate to rule, too emotional to be objective, too feeling and instinctive to be rational. That is why intuitiveness and passion are distinctively feminine traits...and labels. In essence, women are too feminine to be trusted. (Perhaps, at least, their time might have finally come.)

The traditions of the unholy trilogy have destroyed true passion by dogmatic legislation of daily culture. '...thou must do what the church says thou must do, not what thou feelst thou must do'. 'Do unto to others as you would have others do unto you...but only for those whom the church says it is all right for you to do unto...all others shall be condemned'. You must love who the church says you love, you must obey who the church says you obey, and women must obey everybody else, regardless. (No wonder women are culturally one angry order.)

Science preaches that only dogmatic observation, continual testing and re-testing, and conclusive laboratory experimentation are sound practices and logical behaviors. One cannot become impassioned in the search for truth. Even society says one must be a "sound, practical and rational" individual to be an accepted and acknowledged member of the community.

This is why people who seek a "passionate" religion, such as the Amish or Celtics, are ridiculed as foolish. If such simple and quiet ways are proven "successful" in theology, then there could be no way the priesthood could justify its luxurious, arrogant temples and rites. How can one religion justify its extravagances, if another can demonstrate the lack of need for such. The same was originally true when the simple rules of Buddhism challenged the glory and wonders of Hinduism. This argument does not promote either the Amish, who hold women as second-class citizens, or the Celtics, whose commitment to ritual secrecy, flavored with the fear of human sacrifices, created the atmosphere of their destruction by the Romans and the Christians.

It is why scientists who choose alternative studies to the old and impractical traditional forms are labeled dangerous radicals. Though the older, traditional scientists remember when they were young and had similar radical ideas, they are now limited by the morality of economics by which science is manipulated. Whoever has the money tells what is radical and what is traditional. In witness stand the lives of Copernicus, Galileo, Nostradamus, and Newton. Even such as Carl Sagan, Arthur C. Clarke, or Richard C. Hoagland, have suffered under the weight of their financial manipulations.

Such is why people who seek alternative medicines, such as homeopathic, holistic and herbalist, are publicly humiliated. Because if acupuncture and herbs are more effective at correcting many ailments, than the fancy, expensive and artificial chemicals that corporations make, and pay doctors to endorse, the later will have no market in which to sell their wares. Such medicinals have been called "pagan" or "eastern mysticism", and actually forbade as "sinful" to keep people from seeking their aid in time of need. Only recently has western medicine finally admitted, that they must add eastern medicine and herbals to their own arsons, because the chemicals they have depended on for so long just don't work. And some are actually killing their patients.

All of this is because they instinctively know that what is missing from their lives is PASSION...and they are searching for it in their own ways. The passion to which I am speaking is not the physical lust for which religions have been infamous about preaching against since time began. Passion is the sense of feeling, the sense of something's very importance. Passion is a mother's love for the protection of her children. It is the awe and wonder of an artist's creation (whether it be the colors of a painting, the designs of a sculpture, the melody of a song, or the vast characterizations in a play or novel). It is the unexplainable emotional content each of us feels upon arriving at the gates of Disneyland.

The proof of this argument is in our own daily lives. Our work and our routine must be "rational, objective and sensible". Men must have this total detachment from emotion to succeed in every aspect of daily life. That is why men cannot discuss their "feelings", because they have been trained to be detached from their feeling, since birth. Take two infants of the same age, one of each gender, and begin to teach them to walk. Then observe the parental behavior toward each. When the girl-child falls down after trying to walk, someone (of either gender) will come forward, pick her up and cuddle her, cooing soft praise for her accomplishment. When the boy-child falls down, the same instructor will tell him not to cry but to try again, big boys are tough and don't cry. From this point on in both their lives, boys and girls are raised to be diametrically opposite. That's the precise reason why they cannot communicate with each other in adulthood.

As adults, men love their sports, and women cannot understand why. It is because of passion. From childhood men are taught that sports is the one subject to which they are allowed to be passionate about. Whether they are the players or the spectators, men "can" feel strongly about their teams. Because in sports "winning" and "losing" are very specific, very simple things. You either do or you don't. It's not complicated by questions of morals and ethics (supposedly), just play the game to win or lose. Since the moralization of combat battles and sports accomplishment have become the measure of macho pride. It is the expected and honorable achievement of every male to prove himself on the field of honor. That is why men so vehemently argue when women become proficient in any sport...especially those which have been the exclusive property of "men". It is their one allowed passion, and they should not have to share it. The same applies to horror movies and war/adventure stories. They give men the opportunity to really "feel" something, feel it strongly, and not be out of social character.

"Love", in the social sense, is still the next hurdle for men. Because they have no understanding of a subject that is, and traditionally always has been, irrational. Men are taught that love cannot be "identified, measured or labeled", therefore, it is something to fear. It is acceptable, even expected, to select a companion upon which the characteristics of love can be applied. But the honorable portion is recognition for assuming the responsibilities and duties that such a partnership requires. (Duty, Honor, Country)

These observations were proven to be the traditional social order, by an entire generation in the 1960s, when the "Love Generation" was born, and the Age of Aquarius began. An entire generation of people (male and female) instinctively knew what was missing from their lives. Unfortunately, they had no elder teachers available with the wisdom to lead them into the right direction (including Timothy Leary), they had to seek their own way so they chose to go the way of the "dangerous radicals". They sought to end the age of dispassionate, racist, social bigotry. They did truly believe they could try to create a new world of love, hope, peace and brotherhood, they only lacked the proper leadership and the spiritual understanding to control their passion.

And that, my friends, is the true responsibility of religion, to teach "control of passion", not to "eliminate passion". Each reader who holds this text should remember that religious leader (minister, priest, rabbi, monk, Sufi, druid or scholar) who best embodies your own personal definition of a leader, from your own life experience. That individual, regardless of sectarian order, was the one who was really passionate about their faith and their beliefs. Someone who made you "feel" the way of the essential teachings. The one who made you proud to wear the label (Hebrew, Christian, Moslem, Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, or Pagan). Without a doubt, your choice was a parish leader (one who was responsible for a small church, synagogue or mosque). Then look at those who never fit your definition. All were those responsible for greater groups or areas or religious control. Why? Because all of these are, by necessity, politicians and bureaucrats, who have lost their passion for the faith, because of the daily requirements to deal with the "identify, measure, and label" mentality of the real world. You can do the very same thing with your own memories of the teacher, or teachers, who inspired you to learn in school. The one who "loved" their work and made you "feel" the subject. The one who really "excited" you to study for class. Regardless of your career field, you did not choose that direction without the "inspiration" of someone who demonstrated a great passion for it. And...if there is no passion in your work, you are in the wrong field!

Science today is just as "bland" and without flavor. Biologists and chemists search for great cures to many terminal diseases. But without passion...they must be "rational, objective and economical". Otherwise, they will not be taken seriously, and all funding will not be forthcoming. Geneticists are beginning to learn the limitations of their passion, having come face-to-face with the rest of the world's questionable "morality", as to whether or not their labor is "proper and responsible". Geologists have a fundamentally "identify, measure and label" mentality, because they have to work with things so old that no one can prove any single characteristic. They have to collect so many similar characteristics, and have so many others support their findings, before any one of them can be classified as acceptable. And then someone always comes along with a new idea, that changes the whole view of the subject, and everybody has to start all over.

Recently, when certain geologists were asked to step forward and use their very respectable science to aid a scholar/author in dating the Sphinx, they could prove the science and the "facts", but they would not come forward, because they were economically incapable of challenging the traditional authorities. Traditional Egyptologists proclaimed all of them "radicals", and this label was automatically accepted by the community-at-large. Because the community-at-large did not want to look into the reality of the field of Egyptology itself, its not their own specialty. However, a close and objective "identify, measure and label" approach to Egyptology demonstrates that the whole field of science lacks anything resembling a real science. It is nothing more than assumptions made upon assumptions supporting assumptions...and those who have spent their whole lives in their own assumptions. It is much better, in this society, to be an "expert in assumptions" than to be a "nobody in reality". When Dr. Robert Schoch stepped forward to acknowledge the facts of the physical damage to the Sphinx, as water caused, even though he was later proven to be right, it almost ruined his young career as a respected geologist.

When trained astro-experts, from NASA, examined the 1976 Mariner photographs of the Martian surface, and identified the monuments and "the Face" on Mars, all of their previously accepted and recognized expertise was ridiculed and disparaged. Why? Because the traditional scientific community could not admit that they, themselves, had overlooked the obvious presence of the "reality" in the photographs. They did not want to deal with the questions arising from the photos. So, like ostriches who hide their heads in the sand, and the whole of the community ostracized the few who could "feel" the reality. That lasted for fifteen years, but now, the community-at-large has come to accept it on their own. The questions would not go away, they must step forward and assume the challenge that "truth is still stranger than all their fiction".

CHAPTER 9: Prayer & Meditation

Prayer and meditation are the essence of speaking to God. The one consistent ritualistic practice of every philosophical or religious order is prayer and meditation. Whether the individual is on their knees in a temple, bowing their heads to Mecca, sitting in the lotus position staring at their navel, just laying on the home sofa listening to gentle music, or running a 26-mile marathon, the form is important for its ritualistic routine which awakens the spiritual action. The purpose of the ritual is to train the individual to anticipate those periods of personal, self-contemplation. The eventual goal of this ritual routine is to open the mind and spirit to the power of an Eternal Source.

The more one practices the ritual form, the easier and faster it is for the individual to gain deeper reflective quality to their prayer and meditation. After continual repetition of the rituals, the body and the mind become use to the physical participation, and even come to expect and desire the participation. Eventually, just beginning the process produces a "feeling" of happy anticipation, like children the night before Christmas. The ultimate goal of prayer and meditation is spiritual contact with the "godhead", whether the individual seeks that within themselves or from their external representation of God.

It is the silent, personal, self-contemplation that the individual is striving for, and the ritual routine is the way. The marathon runner achieves an outward reward of physical accomplishment fulfilled, while still enjoying an inter-meditation with one's self. Quiet prayer brings the same enjoyment from contact with one's self. The majority of sectarian memberships learn how to conduct the practice, recite the ritual, and then profess the profit. But very few ever discover the true essence of contemplation which is the goal of the ritual. Like their daily lives, most people just get so caught up in the rote and routine that they fail to find the real blessings hidden within. Such is the teaching to...stop...and smell the roses.

Sectarian doctrines set forth the proper form of practice, the proper form of recitation, and the expected form of achievement - then forgetting the essence of the principle to be achieved. This is best demonstrated by any individual who ever attended Catholic school. Years are spent in the daily, even hourly, drilling in the routine of the Rosary and Novenas, without explaining the anticipated fulfillment of the meditation and inter-enlightenment. As a matter of fact, Catholic instructors say that "nothing is going to happen, prayer is a one-way street, you talk to God, He listens, and you hear nothing". Teachers drill the dogma and external forms, and leave the meditation alone, because teachers cannot see "inside" the student and cannot know if the lessons have been correctly learned and understood. Few real teachers ever learn to spot the outward signs that the student may not be concentrating on the essence of the teaching (except children who squirm during services), or those signs which say that the student has found the real essence. None can be absolutely sure the message is ever understood. Lastly, most teachers never fulfill the ritual routine, themselves, and talk to God, so they will be more surprised than the student who does learn to talk to God.

For those few who have achieved "true" prayer and meditation, when challenged to explain their personal practice ritual, most discover that theirs has little resemblance to the method(s) taught by their elders. Each individual who develops the ability to achieve success with prayer and meditation does so by creating and practicing their own, very personal mind-set and thought patterns, that which best achieves the peace-of-mind and tranquility which gives the individual passion and comfort...and the sense of heavenly being that is the promised sectarian goal of prayer.

The first step in every form of meditation is breathing control. This is a very important step, and the only one easily taught and learned. The student immediately learns that the form of breathing they depend on everyday is not the proper one, it is an involuntary reflex action. Nor is it useful for proper physical health and mental development. An early example of this is asking the student to remember an extreme hard math or history test in school. As the student begins to remember the details and relive the test, they will realize that on each particularly difficult question they would hold their breath while trying to brainstorm the question. This process is natural, of course, and devoutly detrimental to proper mental effort. Holding the breath under such circumstances, deprives the brain of the necessary oxygen to delve out the answer. The teaching of proper basic breathing patterns at the elementary school level would increase test scores more drastically than any other instruction program.

The second step in teaching deep meditation is to direct the new student to develop physical relaxation (even in marathon runners where its called a second wind). Allowing the physical body to relax, allows the mind to work without distraction. By focusing the mind on the separate sections of the body, the mind can relax the physical, a bit little at a time. It may take quite a while at first, but with repetition and practice, eventually the time necessary to achieve this relaxation becomes negligible. Another advantage of this is once the prayer and meditation session is complete the body is revitalized and ready to continue the day's routine and mundane efforts.

The next step is to direct the student to learn "blank mind", the ability to empty all extrusive thought from the conscious mind. In a great many situations, this significant step detours the student from their ultimate goal, because it is often difficult for the teacher to remember when they were the student, and that "blank mind" is really not that simple a term. The effort to create an environment where there is absolutely "no thought" in mind is an arduous challenge. This fact is easier for men to understand than women, because we rarely expend energy to “think” about anything, while women are confounded by our “not thinking about anything” attitude, as they are constantly thinking about five different subjects at the same time.

The normal student tries to their own frustration and overwhelming distress to remove all thought from their consciousness. The adept who does learn to perform this feat is the one who learns, on their own level, that "blank mind" means "not to be aware of what is consciously there". The real accomplishment is, instead of "emptying" one's mind of all thought, one learns to "ignore" the intrusion of ordinary thoughts allowing them to pass "through" with acknowledgment but no interference, until all of the mundane stop, and the mind is clear to focus on the one topic of specific interest to the meditation.

Perhaps a better term than "blank mind" would be "not-present mind", the ability to disassociate one's self with the mundane activity of the physical world. Total "concentration" can then be applied to any singular subject that needs to be dealt with, or is completely open to the "voice" of the Universal. With practice, and effort, the adept learns to allow a small portion of one's consciousness to departmentalize and monitor all of the mundane activities, this prevents one from being caught by "surprise", and allows one to maintain awareness of the surroundings.

The meditative development necessary for "not-present mind" is first visualization. Focusing the conscious mind on a very particular object, with the eyes closed, until the mind can recreate every "detail" of that object in the "inner eye". The process develops from a single object (a rose, a picture, a candle, a face, a mandala) to a complete scene (a room, a park, the beach, a mountain path). Success with this step is of greatest importance because it introduces the adept to their own inner-strengths and abilities. And opens them to the vast wonder of their own subconscious or inner mind.

It is at this step, that many sects and organizations introduce their specialized, or particularly self-serving techniques and rituals. The rule here becomes 'the sect is the most important part of life, you must subjugate yourself to the sect, and if you do speak to God it can only be in the name of the sect'. The priesthood knows that psychic power is real, that the individual who achieves the power is one with a great spiritual strength, and that the few who achieve the Universal "must be brought under their control". It is of no use to the priesthood to teach someone to "talk" to God, if the conversation does not bring the priesthood more power.

The single adept who is not influenced by the priesthood learns to see themselves as part of the Universal. Relative to the generalized principles of meditation, the student learns to visualize their own characteristics and spiritual life. From this the student begins to develop better self-characteristics, correct flaws in thought and skill, polish positive traits, and see a more beautiful and wondrous world of future possibilities.

With time, patience, and effort the adept does learn to "speak" with "God", the Universal life-force. This is always a personal, and self-descriptive "presence", conceived by the adept, visualized by the adept, and accepted by the adept. The individual student who achieves this level usually becomes the foundation of the next sectarian subgroup. Because the student has learned more than the priesthood could teach, he or she now knows the base lies that the old sect is built on. In trying to teach their friends that there really is another "way", the student becomes the priest.

None of this, however, is accomplished in one period of prayer and meditation. This is a course of study that takes the student a great deal of time to master. When the meditation periods are over comes the hardest part of the learning effort, the ability to live a "conscious life" within the real values that the student "knows" are required.

Up to this point, we have discussed the "how-to" of prayer and meditation. Now we must discuss the "why-for" philosophy of prayer and meditation. Simplistically, prayer and meditation is "the way we talk to God". Theologically, each time we pray or meditate, we are in an open and direct conversation with the personal "godhead" we choose to acknowledge. If we ask for blessings, we are to receive them. If we ask for protection, it is given. If we seek answers, they are readily provided.

When the student observes, to the teacher, that this is a "one-way street", we do all the talking and never "hear" any response from God, then how do we "know" God has heard us? The teacher will inevitably answer, you must "have faith". After your prayers are asked simply life your daily life by the rules and when you least expect it you will "see" the results of your prayer. For children this simplicity may be fine, but for adults, we must "understand" the truth in the statement.

The fact is the statement is "true". If you really believe that you can talk to God, you can. But you first have to understand what that really means. Whether you believe that "God" is something "out there" in the Universe, "an old man" on some heavenly throne, or some mystical force that has no "consciousness", that is all dogma. Dress "god" any way you like, as long as you understand that "something" can response to your requests. It is the continual and repetitive nature of prayer and meditation that develops the student's self-confidence to "believe" that they can achieve the proper mind-set which opens dialogue with "God".

The adept must believe that there is a "power" in the Universe that does control the metaphysical. Without that faith, there can be no relationship between the two. To succeed the adept cannot be caught up in the dogma of costuming, and must seek the source of the truth. The costuming and dressing of prayer is, perhaps, essential in the very beginning of a practice system, because it will train the student to repeat the ritual often enough for it to become instinctive. This will reinforce the individual's faith that prayer will be successful. Faith is the key to success. Once you truly believe that your prayers can be answered, they will be answered. Some people are extremely lucky, they can "believe" the very first time they pray. This is especially true of children who have been raised in a household where "faith" and "trust" are truly members of the family. However, the vast majority of us have been through lives so disrupted by "distrust", "deception" and "dysfunction" that it takes us a very long time to "re-learn" to trust anything...so much as to have "faith" that our prayers can be answered.

The difficulty and challenges of our "hard realities" do not prove that prayer and meditation do not work. Each of us can look at our own neighborhoods, our own communities, and through such we know people for whom prayer and meditation seemed to have worked miracles in their lives. And we have tried to achieve such success with prayer, failed, and suffered great loss, such as the death of a loved one. When such failures occur we damage our ability to "have faith". Many of us just give up and seek "other" things to believe in.

During such failures, the priesthood tells us that it is our "fault" because we lacked the "faith" to believe in God. Therefore, God ignored the request within the prayer, for He will not respond to any "who do not believe". If your definition of "God" is as a father-figure who is always present and always loving, this answer can be traumatic and destroy the spiritual source inside you. How can He who is everything, not answer my prayers? Why would He find greater pleasure in someone's prayers than in mine? If your definition is a personification of the Universal life-force, then you will have a great personal challenge in overcoming your spiritual distrust.

But, if you have a greater understanding of the Universal life-force, and the real meaning of prayer and meditation, then even when you fail, you will never give up. And, eventually, you will achieve the proper level of "faith", that you will be heard by God. Yet, this achievement has its own obstacles. The real faith to receive "all" we wish for prompted the need to teach that: know what you are wishing for, you just might get it.

Each time you go and pray, you must focus clearly on what it is you really desire. Understand every aspect of your prayer, each little nuance. Otherwise, you will get exactly what you asked for. Example: a child witnesses her parents in an argument. She does not understand the reasons for the fight, or all the underlying factors behind it. All she knows is her parents are unhappy, and she probably blames herself. So she prays very hard, to her ideal of "God", that her parents are happy once, again.

Later her parents announce that they are getting a divorce. The child immediately believes that her prayers were unanswered. She loses her faith in God. The eventual trauma of the separation and divorce leave their own marks in her life. The child loses her faith in prayer and meditation. Many years later, when she is grown, has re-examined her childhood, and talked openly with her parents, she will come to understand that her prayer was answered, the best way possible. The divorce made both of her parents happy, again. And saved her from possibly experiencing even greater sorrow and pain from a marriage held together by hate and animosity. Only now can she realize the results of "how" she asked for help. Now, she has to rebuild her faith in the prayer and meditation that had once allowed her to talk to God.

Once you have mastered the ritual and routine of prayer and meditation, you must follow the sincere routines for success. When you pray and meditate always seek the best for "everyone". Hold no animosity for any individual or group. Put the most of your own positive emotion and spirit into the power of your prayer. Have true faith that you will receive an answer. Have the real ability to "see" the answer when it comes. And, never lose your faith because you "failed" to see benefits in the past.

For those of you who will now accept the challenge to learn to really pray and meditate, here are some simple suggestions. Learn to breath, in through the nose, hold it for a slow count of four or five, then out through the mouth, slowly and deeply for a count of eight or ten. Repeat this several times (set a particular number for yourself, six to ten), this tells your "body" that you are going to meditate, and prepares it for the rest of the session. Afterwards, continue to breath in through the nose and out through the mouth for ten more, but don't hold it. Finally, return to breathing in and out through the nose, quietly and relaxed.

Next consciously focus on each part of your physical body, one part at a time. Start at the feet (one then the other), ankles, calves, knees, thighs, genitals and buttocks, stomach, kidneys, heart, spine, shoulders, upper arms (one then the other), forearms, hands, neck and throat, face, ears, eyes, forehead, scalp, and then the physical brain. (The brain may appear impossible, since we are all taught that the brain "cannot feel", BUT once you have achieved this level of awareness, you will KNOW the difference.)

This is the best level for teaching the student that prayer and meditation really work. Because this is the point where the student receives immediate gratification from the practice. Within just a few days of practice, every individual realizes that they can "actually" isolate and "feel" the individual parts of their own body. Even the organs which are buried deep inside inches of flesh and muscle. After this realization, the student readily jumps into the further, harder levels of training and practice. Because they "want" to achieve the same level of personal awareness.

This level is especially helpful in dealing with the daily aches and pains of mundane life. Long hours on one's feet at work, back and shoulder tension due to sitting long hours, stress headaches, eye strain, knee and ankle pain caused by sports performance, even the muscle pain and tension of pregnancy. Continued success at this level gives the student the open opportunity to deal with high blood pressure, chronic asthmatic congestion, irregular heart rhythms, as well as pain from arthritis.

For those of you who have particularly stressful and/or physical daily routines, this author also suggests simple massage of the feet and hands prior to each daily prayer and meditation period. There are several very good texts on reflexology which will provide the curious student on the detail benefits of such massage. But this author can vouch for its success, after many years in the walking infantry. Also, reflexology is quite successful and necessary for those with stressful lives, even if prayer and meditation are not in your daily routine.

Upon achieving total physical relaxation, the student is ready for "not-present mind". A simple way to test this level is to play some light instrumental music during meditation. When you "realize" that you are conscious but haven't been "listening" to the music, you know you can attain "not-present-mind". Those of you who live in heavy urban areas can use the outside traffic sounds in the same way, and this eventually means you can enjoy where you live much more. Because you can "tune out" the traffic "anytime" you desire.

Each student must find a particular object, thing or thought upon which to "focus" their mind. The more this object has some emotional reference to the student, the faster the developing skill of focusing (visualization). But start out simple, don't try to paint large ocean sunsets or mountain sunrises at first. These have too many details to bring into focus, begin with one object then grow into something more wondrous (learn to crawl before you try to run the marathon). Don't fear, though, it won't take very long before you can create as large and complicated patterns as suit your soul.

After visualization becomes second nature to your meditation, comes the next the step, personal review and re-evaluation. Come to your meditation periods with character flaws and personality traits (positive and negative), prepared to discuss these traits with yourself. Determine those positive ones which need more work, and focus on each (individually). Then determine those negative ones which need to be corrected, and focus on them. Then, between meditation periods, consciously live your life so that you achieve those traits you want to be associated with.

Once two or three of your personality traits have begun to show through, as you have visualized them, you will have achieved the level of personal awareness, and "faith" in yourself that will open the door to the final step. Now, you are ready to "talk to God", regardless of your personal spiritual model of the Universal Life-force. This I cannot describe to you, each of us experiences this in absolutely different and wondrous ways. Just "trust" me, you will know when it happens. There won't be any doubts, whatsoever.

CHAPTER 10: The Zen of Rainbows and Unicorns

Throughout the history of Mankind one of Nature's most simple physical effects has always had a most profound and fundamental spiritual affect on the psyche of the individual. Regardless of age, race, sex, or religious preference, anyone who has ever seen a rainbow knows that feeling of something completely and serenely tranquil. Why this is so, is beyond the understanding of all teachers, theologians, and scientists. But it is still a very simple fact.

Every religion and many mythologies tell of the power and magic of rainbows, and their symbolism as a promise from the god(s) for some aspect of fellowship. Most notable is the Judeo-Christian tale of God placing the rainbow in the sky after every rainstorm as a symbol of His promise to Noah that He would never again destroy Mankind by flood. Regardless of the dressings and the legends, there is something subconscious between the presence of colored air and our spiritual center.

Ostensibly, crystals and their New Age metaphysical attributes, would appear to have very little in common with rainbows. Those who do believe in the power of crystals state that the presence of quartz rocks in their lives aides in the best development of the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the person. But even these devout proponents cannot specifically and accurately detail why crystals do work...they only believe that they do. Those who do not believe in the "metaphysical" magic really have very little to do with this text.

Another relatively separate subject would appear to be Yoga (and some Zen meditation), with its various forms of spiritual and physical meditation. Other than believers professing success, Yoga differs from crystals in that the student places his or her faith in themselves, and in their ability to overcome the obstacles in their own personality to develop success, rather than in strange rock formations. Neither of these peculiar practices of faith relate directly to the natural, and totally random phenomena of rainbows. However, as the world is always more than happy to demonstrate...things are just never what they seem.

One very simple and fundamental aspect of each ties all three together...into one remarkable spiritual exercise. This peculiarity is the relationship of colors to the presence of each. In rainbows, colors are the effect produced when light passes through droplets of moisture in the air. In crystals, colors are the products of light passing through the facets of the prism. In Yoga, colors are the products of Universal Light passing through the levels of the human spirit. It is in the very presence of the colors, and their spiritual effect on the mind, that these three are tied.

Medical and psychological scientists have proven that the presence of colors does have a direct and powerful effect on an individual's emotional responses. Even hospitals and corporations have accepted the practice of painting rooms with specific colors to create specific emotional responses from their patients, employees, and clientele. "Blue" calms a nervous person, "red" creates an agitated reaction which energizes the spirit, and "green" is the color of jealousy and revenge even though it also represents the peace and mellowness of a forest. To date, why this correlation exists is still beyond medical and scientific explanation, but it is acknowledged that its there.

The physicist can explain that "white" light contains all of the other colors of the spectrum, visible and invisible. The physicist will observe that the crystal and the raindrop simply take white light and break it down into its many slower vibrations. This natural and unmagical process is called "light refraction". Very simple science...nothing metaphysical... nothing theological. Or is it so simple?

Let us move forward, from the basic facts and observations to a possible new way of thinking. Refraction allows natural objects to have some effect on the colors of light. Or do the colors of light have some direct effect on the nature of the objects? The colors of light do have some direct effect on the human emotional system. All of this is still in the definitive realm of "magic". We know it happens, we can watch it, measure it, and accept it. But we cannot explain it. Therefore it must be magic. Isn't it?

Yoga does not try to explain it. Rather, Yoga simply accepts it, then applies it. Teachers of Yoga acknowledge a certain amount of success...even though it is measured within their own subjective parameters. The practitioner learns the seven levels of development, with their physical and spiritual locations, their importance to the whole, and the symbols used to recognize each level. Most important to our discussion is the fact that each of the seven levels, called Chakras, are identified by the seven colors of the "visible light" spectrum.

In the 16th Century, scientists discovered that white light is broken down into the colors of the visible light spectrum (rainbow) by use of glass prisms. In the 20th Century, technology created the tools to measure the realm of each color of light, and identify how each works into the whole (the spectroscope). It has been proven that each color of light "vibrates" at different speeds, from the fastest in the ultraviolet range, to violet and blue, to green and yellow, to orange and red, to the slowest in the infrared range.

Within the visible range are the seven colors we have always known. Each is easily remembered by use of a childhood rhyme. Using the first letter of each...Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet...we create the name ROY G. BIV. This is all basic, simple science...natural fact, and nothing more.

Hindu and Zen masters, nearly two thousand years before modern science was born, began the philosophical practices of physical, emotional and spiritual self-realization. They recognized and developed the use of the seven colors to assist neophytes to "focus" their thoughts on each level of personal development. (Talk about magic!) Each color correlates directly with the level of and advancement of each spiritual level. Until the neophyte reaches the crown, and can "produce" white light.

RED, the slowest visible color, represents the first level, or Chakra. This is the level of fundamental life, procreation, and specie survival. Physically located in the area of the genitals, this level is responsible for the individual's need for personal and social survival. It is also the lowest, most animalistic level of spiritual development. The individual who is spiritually located in the First Chakra is base, crude, self-centered, violent, and aggressive in behavior (is it just a coincidence that Catholic Cardinals wear this color). These characteristics are required of the animal nature for survival of the specie. But, all of these hinder the individual from proper development of the higher qualities. Learning to control these traits is the first step in Yoga and Zen.

ORANGE represents the second Chakra. This is the level of reprocessing the individual's nature, and is identified with the kidneys and the intestinal system, which filters, processes and purifies the bodily fluids. As the individual reaches for higher quality, the baser elements must be identified, filtered and purified from the spiritual being. The color, a blend of red and yellow, represents the purification process from the lower to the higher levels.

YELLOW represents the third Chakra. This is the level of sustenance, and is identified with the stomach, the center of energy renewal. This level is identified with confidence in self and environment. As the individual continues to develop and purify their spiritual self, confidence is the first sign of self-awareness. And the first reward for diligent effort.

GREEN represents the fourth Chakra. This is the level of conscious emotional stability, and is identified with the heart, love and affection, jealousy and envy, compassion and greed. This is the middle of the road, physically and spiritually, and the hardest level for most adepts to conquer. Once the individual has identified their weaknesses, it becomes the task to overcome them with self-awareness and centered spirituality. The fourth chakra is the final level of emotional battle. The individual has fought themselves to this point, matching emotion for emotion, love conquers hate, compassion conquers jealousy, and patience conquers anxiety.

BLUE represents the fifth Chakra. This is the first level of the intellectual battle. The battle for emotional control and stability must be completed before the adept moves forward. This level is represented by the vocal cords and the throat, and is identified with the ability of communication. Expression of goals and obstacles is the task, understanding the measure, power and formulation of expression is the goal. It is not enough to say "I want a better life" to receive a better life. One must understand what it means to a life that is "better" than what is present. This is the level of learning to "be sure of what you wish for, you just may get it".

INDIGO represents the sixth Chakra. This is the level of intellectual awareness, and is identified by the "third eye", in the center of the forehead. This is the first level of psychic development and awareness. Once the adept understands how forming the words has power, this level demonstrates the amount of power available. At every level "concentration" and "focus" are absolutes for success. At this level, the smallest distraction will prevent the adept from any forward motion.

VIOLET represents the seventh and final Chakra. This is the level of complete self-awareness. This is the level of spiritual fulfillment, and is identified with the crown at the top of the head. This is the level of pure physical, emotional and spiritual control. The Master who achieves this level does all the things that simple men only believe in as "magic". The Master blends all the colors back into white light.

Although the crown is the final chakra, it is not the end of the road. The Master who achieves the level of Violet understands the power of all light. Until this level the adept has been taught that the white light of the eternal spirit flows through the universe and into the individual (God is everywhere). This is the power of life. The Master in Violet knows that this is true. But now has the ability to learn that through his (or her) mastery of all the chakras, he can reverse the process. Blending the developed energies of each level, blending all the colors of the Chakras in the proper measures, the Master in Violet creates internal WHITE LIGHT, and returns it to the source. This is true Universal Awareness (the two-way street).

Throughout the history of Mankind a few very special themes which are impressed upon us still remain. And some very peculiar beliefs still exist at the center of our desires. The consummate symbol of these mystic peculiarities is the Unicorn. Unicorns are magical, horned horses which no evidence ever provided any reality to, but they exist in every culture and persist throughout all mythologies. Why should this be so?

Why would believing in these fictional creatures be so important to our social existence? There never has been any physical evidence or any reputable sources to support any argument of their reality. Love and fascination, although self-sustaining for their popularity, do not reasonably provide factual evidence of their existence. Perhaps Unicorns are a manifestation of our genetic memory. Literally, a bio-emotional response to a time so far back in our unrecorded history that its beyond our present imagination. Yet, they must symbolize something so vastly wonderful and positive that their very memory is a necessity to our emotional stability.

The mention of the word 'unicorn' has an impact on the listener which immediately invokes a sense of curiosity, like the mention of Atlantis. Everyone knows the truly remarkable feeling of exhilaration and awe that just a picture or statuette of a Unicorn creates. Very few women are not emotionally fascinated with the beauty, grace and wonder of a Unicorn. All our writings tell us the same thing about these marvelous horses. That they represent, Peace, Light, Purity, Goodness, Grace and Beauty. And that their loss causes (or may have caused) great horrors and calamities. Interesting enough, don't we use the same descriptions to glorify their present-day counterparts, the Dolphins? Could it be that they are only apocrypha symbols of real-life counterparts, which were designed to instill in our emotional instinct the need to protect the existence of something or someone beside ourselves.

Perhaps all of Man's mythologies reflect a real-time experience, either on this planet or on another. The telling of myths and legends is an essential characteristic of all cultures. The continual passing of these stories and the restoration of beliefs in the magical creatures represent the first impressions each of us develop of the eternal battle of good and evil. Our first bedtime stories, and our favorite fantasies, portray the powers and presence of magic and wonder. Even our professional medical communities, whose work it is to monitor and understand our mental and emotional makeup, agree that maintaining a reasonable level of imaginative creativity is an absolute necessity to our individual and cultural balanced personality. That is to say: there's nothing wrong with believing in imaginary creatures and magical realms, as long as the individual does not begin to report seeing such manifestations.

What if the essence of our maintaining faith in our imagination is to eventually raise us, first individually then socially, to a better level of stability, where 'seeing' such manifestations is the norm, not the exception. Perhaps the purpose for our eternal fascination with Unicorns is to develop the personal characteristics necessary to see them. To focus on a single thought long enough to feel it exists and learn how it still exists, instead of just believing that it might have existed a very, very long time ago. Suppose Man at one time did have the real and necessary ability to see magical creatures, because he knew that magic was real. Then for his own reasons, he lost that truth. Probably through his overwhelming sense of blind selfishness and ignorance, Man destroyed his ability to see. It would mean that Unicorns are the symbolic reminder of Man's goal to return to a purer, universal awareness.

An alternative hypothesis of this train of thought might be: what if Unicorns are actually, physically real, however, they exist in a different dimensional universe, which requires that the individual must accept, then achieve, such a level of personal emotional enlightenment that they vibrate at the same level as the new dimension. This is not traditional, however, Science has already begun to argue and demonstrate the existence of the multi-universe complex.

Is that really too much to believe in? Of course not. Religious leaders of all faiths have professed the higher traits of Man's purpose. But these traits have become buried in the mist of miracles, spiritual manifestations, and dogmatic rituals. The foundation must be considered factual. Science has professed that the more we learn about Man's mind and mental potential, the greater will be our chance to achieve such skills and abilities equal to those which are at the present only spiritual or fictional. From the myths we know that only those who were absolutely pure of heart and soul could see a Unicorn. And that only young women who were still pure virgins could touch one. Perhaps, however, there are other virtues which can easily be projected into Man's destiny include: telepathy, psychokinetics, advanced mental capacities and skills, holistic healing, levitation, astro-projection and, maybe, even metamorphosis.

Like religious miracles and apparitions, which are rarely recordable as true, scientific records of rare manifestations of such listed skills really do exist. And whether religious or scientific, there is enough information to accept that principle that such talents can and do exist. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that these characteristics have always existed, but the ability to utilize them has been lost. Either consciously or subconsciously. It is very interesting to note that the normal situation involved in the vast majority of these investigated and recorded presentations is that the individual(s) involved meet one or two specific requirements: a) they are very young innocents...so young and protected as to not know that what they experience is considered by others as 'not normal'; or, b) they suffer some truly traumatic physical or emotional shock, which stimulates their ability to manifest certain traits, by superseding those factors which have blocked or prevented such skills in the past (programmed disbelief).

These two stimuli support the argument that the skills are already present and not unrealistic. But Man may have designed some mechanism (biological, emotional or environmental), deliberately or accidentally, to block out and degenerate the individual's development. At sometime in the past, those who could not may have managed to create a way to prevent those who could from doing. Most probably this is simply the cultural programming that we don't believe, therefore no one can. Now, perhaps, Man's true destiny is to discover the obstacle and remove it. New Age metaphysics may only be the first step to the physical reality that Man is not the stumbling, bumbling, crude, incompetent and vicious animal that he has so proudly presented himself for so many countless centuries.

Having one's God be merciless, cruel, and bloodthirsty, protects one's own behavior by having it blessed by one's theology. Society has many ways to justify its wanton violence and cultural genocide. Hopefully, the Unicorn is the symbol of Man's true spiritual awareness. The guiding light that all we have created is built on lies and death and deception. When we can become the people we are supposed to be, then perhaps the Unicorns will return. Wouldn't that day be equivalent to the Judeo-Christian description of the Rapture? The message is for each of us, as individuals, and as a society, like the threat of Judgment Day. If we don't learn to live by our own rules, then we will eventually be condemned by our own lies.

Would it not be in our best interests to accept this definition of Unicorns? Then to strive, righteously, for that level of personal conduct, and spread that behavior throughout the culture. Then, to be prepared to praise and glorify all of those who have achieved true universal awareness and can see Unicorns.

CHAPTER 11: Science versus Magic

"Science is the magic of Man's outer nature,

while Magic is the science of Man's inner nature."

The Author

Since modern history began with the writing of the first records, Mankind has been arguing that science and magic are totally opposite sides of different worlds. To believe in one automatically dispels belief in the other. As my quote states, this author does not agree with this tradition either. Both are similar sides of the same fact, that Mankind can do anything Mankind places its mind to do. Scientists have always argued that what they do appeared to be magic before they could do it. They believe that once they can do it, it can no longer be magic. They imply that magic is the faith that ignorant people have in things they cannot explain. The truth is that magic is the ability of primitive people to do things that scientists cannot reproduce in their laboratories.

There are several kinds of magic. Theologians call the magic that is beneficial to their sectarian faith, "miracles". They call any magic that does not serve them, "demonic". They refer to scientists and to demonic practitioners as, "charlatans", who envy their "blessed" miracles. Many sectarian orders even go so far as to "outlaw" all magic from their lives, and they condemn any who demonstrate such powers. The Christian church is the most powerful example of this one-sided argument. And the Salem witch hunts the most powerful example of their kind of condemnation.

It is very interesting to note that even after 300 years, most Christian orders still refuse to condemn the condemners for their zealous activities in those self-same Salem witch hunts. They simply observe that those convicted and condemned "might" have been innocent. This is, of course, the same stand that most partisan sects take on the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Conquistadors, the destruction of the Native Americans, and the Asian Missionaries; that the church and its priests were somewhat "zealous" and "hasty" in their approach to such problems. These sects never admit their definition of "righteous living" was the thing to be condemned. (Witches, heretics, pagans and non-believers must be destroyed...as long as you can get away with it.)

In reality, magic is much more than all of these biased views. Magic is the ability of the individual to touch the inner self, to communicate with the source of prayer, and to manifest outwardly examples of their personal faith. Ambiguous? Not really. Each of us have demonstrated these things, all by ourselves. Haven't you ever known who was on the phone, the moment it rang (or just before)? Haven't you ever changed your routine, just on a whim, and suddenly learned that it benefited you, by protecting you from something very dangerous, or allowing you to find something you thought was lost? And, haven't you noticed that you tend to attract people to you who fit a particular kind of personality or characteristic? Of course, you have.

The Christian who has touched their inner self and communicated with God, can perform the kinds of 'miracles' that will make others of that faith believe. Such talents include faith healing, heavenly visions, and stigmata. Speaking in tongues can be considered here, but in this author's opinion is the most skeptical, because it is so easily a "learned technique", and that must be eliminated before tongues can be a proven sign of faith. When properly witnessed by objective witnesses and priests, then studied within the sect's limitations, these actions are classified as 'miracles', and therefore are a sign of God. Or they are declared false because they fail to meet all the proper church laws. Then they are referred to as hoaxes. Christians also have a standing rule for anyone who demonstrates such powers. If the individual does not profess their belief in the Christian God, then it does not matter that such actions meet all the other laws. Without this, all practice is denounced as Satanic, black magic, or demonic possession, or charlatan fraud. This rule of thumb applies to many other religions, as well. It is mankind's tradition that: whatever I do is very good, whatever you do is very bad.

The battle between science and magic has created a number of war casualties. Astronomy battles astrology, chemistry battles alchemy, medicine battles herbalism, and the church enjoins the battle against everything else. The facts are often overlooked during these battles. Astronomy owes its life to astrology since Man created astrology as the first science. Tribal Man learned that the sun and the moon were important to his life. Then he learned that where they were in the sky would tell him what the weather was going to be like, and how long the day would be. He continued to watch the skies and learned that there were other things in the sky that helped him learn when the four seasons would change. Then he learned that these stars and planets had other ramifications in his life. He could not explain why these things happened, but he knew that they did. That's when the priesthood took control of the science and made it magic.

Why did Tribal Man find it necessary to study the power of the stars on men, rather than the study of the stars themselves? Why was astrology more important than biology or mathematics? Because no other science ever addressed the powers and respect of the gods upon man. And that is the principle responsibility of astrology.

Each of the planets and each of the constellations represent the sphere of influence of some god or goddess. The strength of that influence is then dependent upon how close or far that sphere is to the individual, and to all other spheres. That is the problematic duty of an astrological chart, to locate and identify the strength of all spheres on the individual, at any particular point in time. Astrology was the only science that could be pinpointed to anytime and anyplace, past, present or future – until the discovery of quantum mechanics.

Today, in this age of advance technology and multiple fields of science, astrology has become a joke in the hallways of the scholars and experts. This seems absolutely inexplicable since they would not have jobs, or fancy degrees without astrology. He did not create medicine or mathematics, or biology, or zoology, or geology, or Egyptology, or anthropology, or archeology, or theology first. He didn't even create politics or bureaucracy first. Man created astrology first.

Sociologists say that prostitution was the first occupation. Theologists say that tribal shamanism was the first religion. And even those self-same, self-righteous scientists all agree that astrology created the way for everything.

Chemistry and alchemy have been fighting for centuries, but the fact is they are the same. They are the ability to identify separate elements and compounds, and to know what they will do under any set of circumstances. Both have earned their own bad reputations. Alchemy has been trying to turn lead into gold since both were discovered, and that has made for many a sad story. But chemistry has been equally responsible for such wonders as gunpowder, chemical and biological warfare, hallucinogenic drugs, toxic pesticides, toxic waste dumping, and pollution. Funny thing is, though, only alchemy has to wear the black eye of shame, chemistry simply has a better publicity department. (Better living through modern chemistry, Dupont 1940)

The very same argument applies to medicine versus herbalism. Herbalism is the use and combination of herbs and natural plants to aid and/or cure illness and injury. Isn't that really the same definition of medicine? The use and combination of pharmaceuticals (herbs) to aid and/or cure illness and injury? Cash pharmaceuticals are really combinations of herbs and plants (and some chemistry); the only difference is that corporations get patents for using the same herbs, to treat the same afflictions, and that makes their magic legal.

But, philosophy aside, magic still works. Terminal patients can cure themselves of fatal diseases when doctors can't help. Mothers can move tons of steel (cars) to save and protect their children. Children who survive major birth defects prove themselves to be outstanding and valuable citizens. This author thanks all of the gods for the magic that gave someone as special as Stephen Hawking the power to strive for goals others still can't even imagine. That is the wonder of this Universe.

Chapter 12: Genetic Memories

All religious assumptions must be based on the person listening, and the view they wish to maintain after hearing the message. Many will be open-minded enough to see that there is more than one option. They will then be able to demonstrate the necessary flexibility to prepare themselves, regardless of what the final outcome is. However, many religious faithful base their beliefs on such dogmatic foundations (administrative practices) of their particular sect, and not on the essential teachings of their philosophy...that they cannot be at all flexible. There are the ones who will suffer the most physically, emotionally and spiritually should what they believe in be proven wrong.

Fundamentally, all religious leaders should begin to prepare themselves and their faithful to accept new concepts. Flexibility is not a sin. The principle is to make one's philosophical profile flexible to one's total environment, not to bend the environment to one's point of view. It is the argument of whether the sun goes around the earth, or the earth goes around the sun. People have killed each other for believing one way or the other. How fundamentalistically blind. That is the principle that destroyed our ecological environment in favor of our economically philosophical greed, and turned half the human species into slaves for the other half.

Let us hypothesize some of the more obscure aspects of a probable visitation. There is an abundance of circumstantial evidence to support the idea that our visitor(s) might be from the stars. Every culture, ancient or modern, have legends or hypothesized evidence to support the belief, in that culture, that their source of life came from the gods in the heavens.

Throughout history there have been individuals who have been able to record their beliefs that they had other lives, and those who possessed the ability to see the past-lives of others around them, then traced those lives back through historical times...even to unrecorded times. A point, in fact, which gives the critics the power to denounce any such research and claims...how can you recall living in cultures that never really were?

Perhaps, though, the Hindus are right, and reincarnation is a genetic reality. The best example is probably a small five year-old girl living in Calcutta, recorded by the British Royal Society. This child had been born into the poverty class of Calcutta, in a family that had never left the small neighborhood to which she had been born. For all tense and purpose, this little girl had no substantial knowledge of anything beyond a five mile circle, and the historical religion of the world in which she grew up. But at the age of five, she began to tell her parents of things they could not explain.

They took the child to the local British doctor, to determine if she had mental disabilities...fearing that she would become a perpetual liability to the family. This child told the doctor that she could remember being a 46 year-old man living in Bombay. That she was of the middle class, had a wife, and three grown sons. The child could describe the neighborhood, the shops, the temple, the local government members, birthmarks of the man, the woman, and the sons. Names, places and ages of relatives.

The doctor recorded all of the information, then he went to Bombay and discovered that every item of the story was accurate. Except that the man in question had died...five years before, on the date the child was born. If this was not reincarnation, then the reader will have to explain what other skill was used. Perhaps, clairvoyance, precognition, telepathy... impossible, these are all just as fringe as is reincarnation. But, to pop any bubbles that are being inflated, the doctor eliminated every form or possibility of hoax and fraud, before making his report to the British Royal Society. Which included validating the fact that the child was born with a birthmark on her forehead, exactly where the man had been shot in the robbery of his shop. Since that time, there have been hundreds of investigations, by many researchers, into the facts and evidence of reincarnation. It truly may be weird, but it is really true.

All of us may have the same ability without even knowing it. And science may soon be able to produce even more evidence to support this. The branch of science likely to solve this mystery is called genetic engineering. The ability to breakdown and decode the DNA molecule may soon prove that genetic memory is just as much a fact in Man as it has proven to be in the cockroach and salamander. Then it will be only a matter of determining which genetic memories are there, how old they really are, and where they originally came from. Historically, we can assume some fairly logical human attributes which may really be nothing more than genetic memories. Considering that there are, now, more than 7,000,000 people on the planet, if only 1 percent of them have different genetic characteristics, that indicates that 70,000 people can have any one of our magical skills or traits – at any particular time.

What might be found in our genetic memory? We can see many strong probabilities: 1) the need to believe in a Supreme Being of some kind; 2) the need to believe in things which have never been seen on this planet or during this modern period, such as faeries, elves, dwarves, dragons, wizards and unicorns; 3) the need to be scared and thrilled, such as felt from horror stories fanciful legends, and roller coaster rides; 4) the need to be the dominant partner...individually, socially, religiously and politically; 5) the apparent need to accept certain social actions, such as non-acceptance of differences, intolerance, violence, impatience; 6) the need for social structures such as prisons and prison colonies; 7) the need to believe in other ways of life, and other lifeforms; 8) the need to believe that Man will return to the stars, both physically and spiritually; 9) the discovery of the genetic characteristics un-yet dreamed of.

Genetic memory, if it really does exist, will justify much of our vague and fuzzy understanding of our own pasts and accomplishments. It will prove that those so-called fringe ideas such as clairvoyance, precognition, telepathy, telekinetics, and levitation are real parts of our humanity. In the laboratory they may even be able to discover what aspect of our historical evolution prevented these characteristics from becoming the dominant genes, instead of becoming the recessive genes.

A strong portion of our cultural dogma is that our negative humanity is an essential part of our history. Even the Bible makes violence and inhumanity a cultural justification of our growth potential. Beyond the religious fundamentalist who is incapable of seeing the flaws in their professed philosophy, the self-centered individual's inability to see how any of this applies to them, and the socially repressed' disregard for their own beliefs, Mankind has an unlimited supply of intolerance and self-denial. Personal responsibility is the poorest of all the human values.

Each philosophical form has an established foundation of laws and responsibilities which the individual must learn, accept, commit to by ritual, and practice as an act of faith. But once recognition within the desired sect has been achieved, the individual begins to assume the laxed attitude that the rules no longer apply to me. Besides being selfishly arrogant, this practice makes the long-term planning and implementation of social values fundamentally an exercise in true futility...we wanted to, we tried, we failed...who cares. Individually and socially, we must learn to define our values as "I am very important, but we are more important than I.” (Which would really annoy Cardinal Richelieu)

Lastly, in this category, this author has a personal hypothesis that science may not be very far from being able to track and register, if not out-right verify, the real presence of the soul. That indistinct, but very distinctive aspect of each person that makes them totally different and special. Through centuries of recorded speculations, many people have believed that they and others have lived before, in different countries and different times. This is called reincarnation. Some religions believe in it, and some don't. And science has been noncommittal, because they've never been able to create an experiment that could positively prove it. But I have an idea.

This is based on years of observation, and a peculiar ability to look at things sideways. The theory of reincarnation believes that each mortal body (of the physical world) is powered by an immortal soul (of the metaphysical world). As the body grows and develops through years of life, the soul grows and develops through lives of Karma. As we have established in this discussion there is a real and virtuous set of standards by which each of us should live our lives. If we follow these standards during each life, we return in a higher spiritual level with each new body. The dogma of reincarnation establishes that belonging to a particular religion or nationality in one life does not directly effect one's future lives. Instead, it is the quality and value of the present life that directly effects each new one. The better you are now, the better you will be when you return. The worst (evil, in this definition) you are in this life, the worst (distressful or anguishing) the next life will be. The essence of the teaching is that the soul will return again and again, until the soul learns to achieve its personal level of nirvana -- personal spiritual purity.

Until now there has been no scientific method for testing the presence of the soul. In the late 1880s to the 21st century, photographers have been fascinated by the power of the still and video cameras. Many even took photographs of the dead and dying. A few even claimed to have captured shots of the soul leaving the body moments after death. But there were never any scientific methods to prove or disclaim these statements. Today, with advanced video and advanced still film, the technology exists to re-try those old record the dead experiments. But there's another way, as well. Recording the soul's arrival, during pregnancy.

This hypothesis requires investigation on two levels. First is establishing the emotional and spiritual (not religious) levels of the biological parents at the moment of conception. Examination of many families, in this author's lifetime, has identified some basic facts about family orders. There are standard behavior patterns for siblings in any relationship. The oldest child is normally stable, responsible, self-reliant, caring for the family unit, strives well in school (both scholastically and socially), and aggressive (the leader in most games and duties), determined (sets and achieves goals).

The second child is normally bored, rebellious (usually for not being the first), disinterested in anything specific (especially school), self-centered (more concerned with personal enjoyment than family responsibilities). The third child is normally spoiled (not deliberately, but in essence), manipulative, very emotional, and usually strongly tied to one parent over another. Other children are dependent strictly on the stable environment of the family unit.

This is not to imply that any of the characteristics designated to any of these children are expressed negative or wrong. But these specific characteristics are directly related to the emotional frame of the parents involved in development. The level of the parents' relationship affects the fertilization process.

My family is Greek

When my parents were married, mother did not even meet my father until the wedding,

Then they are immediately taken upstairs, to the honeymoon suite,

My mother and father proceeded to consummate their marriage,

While members of both families danced around the bed, crying, “Have A Boy!”

My father didn’t get his boy, and my mother didn’t get her girl!

I am a hybrid! (Gay)

Ant (Stand-up Comic)

When a couple first choose to create a family unit, both partners are full of emotion. The male is full of strong emotions, including love, and wants to build a strong and proud family. He greatly desires to protect and care for the unit. The female is full of strong emotions from love for her partner to love for the family she wants to build. This great amount of emotional energy bursts into the egg as the chromosomes divide, giving the first born all of the power of these emotions, as parts of its own characteristics.

By the time of the second conception the couple has become mildly bored with their relationship (and the act of copulation). They care for the relationship and the family unit, but the great fullest of their emotion has diminished. This lost of enthusiasm is directly passed to the child. The third child is usually near the end of the mother's biological clock, and her emotional need to have this child effects the birth. The male's emotional need to give her a child is directly reflected in the birth, as well.

Marriage, as an institution, is not required for this family unit process, but true emotional commitment to the relationship is an absolute necessity for the experimentation. The simple fact that in today's society most relationships are temporary and siblings from a family unit are made of members from more than one set of biological parents makes experimentation complicated.

Another traditional aspect of this hypothesis is the psychic awareness of the seventh child of a seventh child. The emotional commitments required by coupling parents to create so many children have to be extremely great for the family unit to be successful. By the time this child is born the emotional environment has achieved a very significant level.

The second aspect of this experimental hypothesis is establishing a record of the pregnancy, in terms of emotional development. Just the fact that a baby exists does not imply that a soul exists with it. But there are signs that can be seen that show that the fetus has its own personality. And the author isn't referring to the baby kicking or rolling over. The best example is: cravings. Discussions with many pregnant women and mothers indicate that their cravings are for foods that they, themselves, have never wanted or even liked. This is a direct reflection on the strength of the soul. The number and great variety of such cravings during a single pregnancy should reflect the eventual development of the soul present. A very small number might even indicate a first soul-birth.

Another measure of this soul's development is the presence of dreams shared by the mother. Many women have realized much later that dreams they experienced during pregnancy were really those of the child, or a mutual dream being shared. Few have ever recorded these experiences, because of their apparent randomness. Most people rarely remember their dreams, even without the stress of pregnancy.

This is not a hypothesis that can be proven immediately. But with a social community as large as ours there is a large control group from which to receive the basic informational criteria. Then an established experimental pattern could readily be created to prove the existence of souls.

Beyond the idea of genetic memories, and someone else's possible tampering with it in the past, there is another fact of Man's development. Human beings have no "natural instincts". This is not an assumption, or a misunderstanding. Man is the only biological lifeform void of "natural instincts", excepting killing its own specie and excessive breeding.

Every known lifeform has pre-printed survival and social patterns that allow the individual member to develop and function, even in the absence of "adult" members present. Kittens and puppies "know" how to interact and function, even after being weaned away from the mother. This is especially obvious in kittens, who learn to use a "sandbox", and stalk their toys, without being instructed. All animal lifeforms have instinctive ability to feed for themselves. But no other lifeform has the "instinct" for self-specie genocide (except, perhaps, crocodiles and alligators).

The breeding patterns of all other lifeforms is continued by the natural environment. Natural predators rise and fall as the "food" supply or environment fluctuates. This is all acceptable. But Man has even screwed up those rules. As demonstrated by the explosion of field rabbits and mice after farmers and ranchers destroyed the coyotes and foxes, the natural predators. Then these men discovered that by over controlling the predators, they had freed the populations of those who ate the men's food supplies.

What Man does possess is the ability to "think" out any situation. "Wild children" who have been found living on their own, completely, in extremely isolated regions demonstrate this "selective" instinct. Rather than possessing the natural instincts to "know" what food to eat, what enemies to avoid, where to find water and shelter, who to trust, they "learned" to watch the lifeforms around them (such as the fox, wolf, bear, deer, etc.). These animals would naturally lead the children to food and water, demonstrate through behavior how to find shelter, and who to trust. But without that outside "stimulus" the human child would "instinctively" starve, freeze or burn to death in the "natural environment".

And modern, socially acceptable, and culturally dominating Man has no better "natural instincts" with which to survive. We "watch" and learn from our elders, where to find food (grocery store), where to find shelter (condos and suburbs), what enemies to avoid (our neighbors), and who to trust (no one). Such is the heredity of Man. It is no wonder that the present generation, Generation Millennial, has no ambition, has no goal, and holds no expectation of future development. Their elders have taught, quite successfully, that there is no hope. Perhaps, natural selection has bred the end of the social human species. By breeding out the "desire" or "instinct" to want to survive. The last viable generation, the Love Generation, born with vast hope, grand schemes, and wondrous faith to success, burned out so fast that we have left behind a genetic husk without the DNA to provide our own offspring life.

Chapter 13: Vibrational Levels (Physical and Metaphysical)

Among the most plausible theories is the idea that there might be more than one "universe" existing within the same "spatial" position. This is balanced on the mathematical probability that many different worlds could exist in the same space if they held varying timelines. That like light and sound, whole worlds could exist by "vibrating" at different levels, or speeds. Passing between such worlds would simply be a matter of increasing or decreasing one's personal physical presence. Under the best circumstances, an entire social group or planetary community could pass from one to another (perhaps the truth behind the legend of "Brigadoon", as well as Hyper-Brasil). In its essence, whether or not actual fact, this vibrational hypothesis meets many of the questions created by critics trying to resolve other theories about universal existence.

Such questions are: 1) if God exists, why can't we see Him? 2) if UFOs travel from other worlds, so very much, why can't we ever see any of them, before they fly past our home? 3) if every culture tells of dragons, elves and unicorns, and no physical evidence has ever been presented to substantiate them, why? 4) many cultures tell of those who have ventured into majestic cities and places, only to find they apparently don't exist? 5) does the Bermuda Triangle demonstrate the characteristics of an opening in the time/spatial boundaries? 6) if every ancient culture believed in real magic, what really happened to it? 7) if souls do exist, where do they stay between bodies? 8) where do angels and demons exist (where are heaven and hell)?

This author sees this complex question from the aspect of having grown up in the fifties and sixties…at that time, television was analog, which meant that every channel on the air broadcast from a different audio frequency. Of course, back then there were only a few channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS). To find one of these channels, you had to turn the analog knob, providing a switching mechanism to brush against the wire antenna receiving the signal wave for each channel. Now, you could receive the channel(s) close enough to you for the antenna to find them. If you lived in New York, you got the signals from there, if Chicago there, if Los Angeles there. But, sometimes, depending upon the weather, you could get signals from farther away, like Texas or Florida. (The same effect was realized by analog radio.)

The point being, that dimensions can be seen from the same point of view. There is Heaven, Earth, and Hell (so the religions tell). That establishes three frequencies. What if there are more? Ghosts, Angels, and Demons establish these three. That is: a) Ghosts are the spirits of dead people still stuck on Earth, who have not yet gone to Heaven or Hell – for whatever reason; b) Angels are those who have earned the respect and achievements to go to Heaven – and are given responsibilities to come back here – for whatever reason; and, c) Demons are those have earned the opportunity to go to Hell and have come back here – for whatever reason. If this establishes the principle that frequencies exist, and can be travelled, it cannot be unreasonable to hypothesize that other entities have raised their level of civilization (for good or evil) to a level where they can travel on different frequencies – for whatever reason.

Religious teachers believe in other "planes" (heaven, earth, purgatory and hell) of existence as well. But their dogma requires that you can only achieve these levels through absolute adherence to their individual rituals. And you can only get there...in your mind, rather than with your mind. This is the traditional argument of some priesthood which says, "if I can't see it, it doesn't exist, and if I can see it and you can't, then that proves that I'm better than you are". This is especially understandable in a world where even the most irrefutable evidence is argued against...everyday. Scientists want to challenge theologians because they (the scientists) don't want to believe that spiritual power has any substance. Theologians challenge the scientists because they (the theologians) can't believe that laboratory power has any authority.

So much for the idea of black and white logic. As each of us has learned in our own lives, truth almost always lies in the gray area in between. The real questions are: 1) how much gray is there? and, 2) what does the gray really look like? Quite probably, that gray area lies within a combination of the fringe and traditional theories. Most of our lives fit better into a combination of philosophical arenas, rather than being totally described by a single thread of any sectarian totalitarianism.

The hypothesis is curious. The questions are very interesting. And the gullibility of many to believe anything is overwhelming. But is there any real evidence, even circumstantial, that could support this idea? Some may exist.

Tuning forks prove that every physical object, living or not, "vibrates" at different levels of "sound". The spectroscope proves that every physical object "vibrates" at different levels of "light" (from radio to ultraviolet), the great majority of which we cannot see with "the naked eye". Talented illusionists prove that what we "see" and believe are not necessarily total reality. Mystics try to prove that if you achieve the proper state of mind, you will achieve another level of "existence". Intersonic Corp., Chicago, has even been able to develop a technological achievement of "proving" that sound can be used to "levitate" physical objects. Is this how they really built the great pyramids?

A vibrational hypothesis offers not only a plausible theory to want to believe in, but it offers a theory accessible to laboratory and spiritual experimentation. This theory can be tested, examined and proven by both the scientist and the theologian. Unless either one chooses to remain locked behind the closed doors of their own selfish arrogance.

Religious experts, regardless of sect and faith, profess that if the individual truly believes in the supreme being, and prays ritualistically and diligently, the individual can achieve a state of mind that they can describe as "touching heaven". Selected individuals have also achieved this state-of-mind during near-death experiences (NDEs).

Trauma induced mind states are readily and medically recognized, if not yet fully and scientifically understood. In its most desired result, the individual has the physical sensation of leaving one's body (the physical plane), and going up to what they believe to be "the entrance to heaven". The individual is then addressed by a person or persons from this place of "white light". Those presented are always persons to whom the visiting individual has had some prior personal relationship with, on the physical plane. And the visitor always returns to this plane with the faith that the information passed on by those from the "white light" is in the best interests of the visitor.

Every major religion maintains substantial and detailed records of such "godly" experiences to the most important figures of the sect's historical record. And each church stands behind "their faithful" who have been involved in such experiences. However, if the listener is not of that same sectarian faith, belief becomes a matter of faith in the honor of the speaker. Scientists, of course, challenge these reports and records because they have little, if any, ability to be tested in the laboratory. Just as with the miracle of Fatima, Portugal, when several thousand people from over 600 square miles witnessed the same "physical phenomena", believers and non-believers alike. But, since the scientists couldn't record it and test it, it couldn't have happened...no matter what anybody "thought" they saw.

By the same standard, the scientists can reproduce many of the characteristics of a spiritual experience in the laboratory. But theologians will not accept such "tests", because they are not within the "context" of the blessed miracles. Scientists can just as easily take spiritual scriptures, read descriptions of historical events, and explain those events in terms outside the realm of faith. Which the theologians will immediately disregard as heretical and obsessive blindness. Isn't just as justifiable to say that, if both sides can do a thing, the thing exists? Instead of, if both sides can do a thing, the thing is a fraud.

Then, of course, there is the fringe subculture that neither of the traditional antagonists will even give creditability to. There are clairvoyants who profess the ability to "know" things "before" they actually happen. There are individuals who profess they can "hear" what others are thinking, without voicing it. There are Ufologists who profess to "see", to "speak with", and to even "travel with" alien creatures from cultures "not of this world". There are Psychics who profess to "know" things about events they were not present to witness, or can "receive" information from individuals who have already died (and passed on to another plane of existence). There are investigators who profess years of experience in searching out and finding "ghosts". And there are those students who profess to have achieved "out-of-body experiences" by their continued and dedicated practice of prayer and meditation.

But what makes all of these claims erroneous? It's not the actual proclamations themselves that make these people "wrong". It is the listener's "fear" that these individuals might being telling the truth. What if all of these people (eliminating the few hoaxers trying to get some publicity) are really telling the truth? Then everything the listener has been taught, by their church, school and government, have been lies. Especially the existence of ghosts and UFOs.

If we accept the argument, for purposes of our present discussion, that every physical object vibrates at a different level ( of visible light and sound), then it may be possible for each of us to change the level at which we, ourselves, vibrate at. That could be the exact purpose of prayer and meditation, to create the scientific instrument (the body) that can attune to, adjust to, and achieve new vibrational levels or planes of existence (heaven, earth, purgatory, hell, and more). It would be in the attuning process that individuals would achieve such obscure skills as clairvoyance, telepathy, "seeing" the metaphysical (ghosts and auras), and tele-kinetics.

Just perhaps, this is the very reason why only "some" individuals have "contact" with aliens from other worlds. It could be that these people have already, either consciously or subconsciously, achieved a particular vibrational level that equates or attracts the presence of members from cultures "whose whole universe" vibrate at different levels from that universe that we readily accept.

Chapter 14: Ufology

The subject of the presence of Extra-Terrestrial aliens is a definitive fact. As much as "fact" as the presence of God. In both cases, proponents cannot prove that the subject absolutely does exist, and opponents cannot prove that the subject absolutely does not exist. That disclaimer aside, ETs are here. ETs have always been here. And every religion and culture has its own "cover story" for their presence. And, every government has evidence to prove that they have reason to hide the facts.

As with a great portion of this generation, I believe, if aliens are here let them come forward and greet us openly. But, I am a firm student of history and I know that they have no reason to come out of hiding. These "cultures" have always possessed their own agenda on our world, and have always modified "public opinion" to address that agenda. Those of us who are in search of these cultures must keep "reality" in the front of our minds. If these cultures do exist, we may not want what they have to give. Remember, these are the cultures that gave us civilization, politics, religion, and cultural animosity. If these are the forefathers who created us, then they are the foundation of our bigotries, hatreds, arrogance and ignorance. And these historical crimes are probably the gravest reasons that the ETs, and the participating governments and industrial complexes, continually hide the truth and create cultural confusion.

Perhaps, some ETs are in reality covert government or industrial agents deliberately creating a composite confusion in the public mind. It still means that those people who believe they have seen ETs have, in fact, seen something they were meant to see. The abundant presence of physical evidence in support of ETs, from still photographs and home videos to crop circles, are meant to support that confusion. If it is a confusion.

The strongest argument in favor of the "fact" of ETs is the crop circles. In this author's fortunate career position, I have had the rare opportunity to have first-hand access to the massive information available to the public on ETs. Years of in-depth study has left me with a definitive point of view. The majority of "recognized" crop circles are made by a technology not known to the general public. This means they could have been made by covert government or industrial agents, but they were never made by rural farmers playing games with a beer hangover. Nor have many of them been created by imaginative college students trying to demonstrate that they can hack crop circles as easily as they hack corporate computers, to get more publicity. The physical appearance of these circles cannot be made with simple tricks "found in any barnyard". And, there is a definitive language of mathematics present in the circles.

The language is a restrictive scientific analogy that rural farmers would absolutely no access to. Through my efforts and study I can "read" a great many of the symbols indicated in the crop circles. The symbolism is definitive and simple, and designed to allow most anyone with a depth of scientific background to interpret. My weakness is in not having access to the "exact order" of presence for many circles. By the time I have been able to research their presence and authenticity, the exact time and date of the appearances have become "clouded", even by those who were supposed to be eyewitnesses.

Therefore, if these crop circles are being made by covert agents, then the governments and industries involved are deliberately lying to, and taking some profitable advantage from, the general public by promoting these hoaxes. However, if these circles are the products of genuine ETs, then the scientific community (an obvious covert agent of both the government and industrial communities) knows the language, and the message in the crop circles. And this, again, is physical evidence that both the government and the industrial complexes are lying to the general public. No matter which way you slice the pie, the general public is being lied to, and someone else is making a profit at our expense.

Ufology is the young and speculative science of studying the questions born regarding the very existence and presence of extraterrestrial life. That is to say, the questions created by the evidence purportedly demonstrating the possibility, or maybe the probability, that there are intelligent, civilized cultures on planets (or planes) other than the Earth. The recent growth of this field, over the past five decades, has been a grassroots effort with a personal level of curiosity. It's present rate of growth has been, apparently, directly proportional to the United States' government's efforts to suppress, deny and invalidate all possibly relevant evidence to the positive existence of other lifeforms. (We have a saying: those who protest too much, have something to hide.)

An apparent effort? Absolutely. Why? In the beginning, to save their "phony baloney" political careers from the pressure directed at Washington due to the overwhelming control of fundamentalist Christians within the democratic process. And, to avoid having to admit that our government could not, even vaguely, defend our nation from such advanced technology. Later on, to promote public opinion in favor of the real existence of non-human cultures in the real universe, and their probable presence in our world, without having to disclose their previous knowledge and participation in such events. What? Quite so.

The obvious and extensive mass of reliable reports and documentation ostensibly demonstrate that the Government of the United States, and others as well, has possessed physical and irrefutable evidence of such existence since the well-documented and publicized Roswell Incident of 1947, in New Mexico. This has the very special and unique point of being considered by many as the very first case, which means it took the whole world by total surprise. But, before that night there had been several serious events regarding this matter, and not just limited to science fiction pulp magazines. Los Angeles in February 1942 is just one example.

The technological advancements, and the development of nuclear 'toys' by 1945, would now make our personal behavior the business of the entire galactic community. We now possess the science to understand, the technology to build, and the social ignorance to use nuclear weapons on ourselves. And, our next immediate desire was to build great rockets to travel to other worlds. There's no reason not to believe that other "cultures" would fear our using them on their worlds. Now, we not only have the power to do others damage, we're trying to develop the ability to take our best destruction right into their front yards. That real set of facts alone could explain and justify the almost immediate and continual flood of UFO sightings, from 1947 to the very present. More and more missions to inspect and investigate this planet would be called necessary to maintain pace with our technological explosion. As a matter of reference, the spurts of UFO sightings and activities flourish in five year cycles: 1947, 1952, 1957...1967, 1972, 1977...1987, 1992...? (Interesting? Just as obvious, an accident in ’47 took 5 years for the culture to reach reports of the loss and return to rescue their people; then flights of UFOs over D.C. demonstrated that they had returned, only to find out the death of their people, then return home to report and return to take another determined action – so, how many worlds exist 2.5 years away from Sol?)

As well as the accumulative collection of reported and recorded crop circles. Those suggested written symbols from an "alien" language, which are believed to be progressively developing in an effort to "us" to read their language. Just the number of recorded sightings and activities would include a percent number of crashes, landings and contacts. But...

Our first step then, is to assume that it was the most ingenious, elaborate and talented hoax in our cultural history. Due to some of the many very remarkable hoaxes that have been discovered there is some strong consideration for this argument: such as Orson Welles' fabulous hoax, the Halloween 1939 radio broadcast of "A War of the Worlds". However, the release of official records and reliable personal statements regarding the Roswell Incident, do tend not only to negate the arbitrary conclusion of a hoax, but substantially support the suggestion of a government cover-up. The vast amount of documents which have been released are only a small percentage of the complete record of the Roswell Incident, and those available have been "blacked out" to such a significant degree to confirm the government's participation. It sets the foundation that the U.S. government used a form of this hypothesis to further its own futuristic programs.

For the sake of curiosity, and trying to maintain some control over my own personal point of view, now let us dismiss the charges of fraud and hoax. We shall accept that this situation really did occur. What exactly was that? The accidental crash of a non-Terran, non-human, intergalactic vessel on Earth. Which resulted in the probable death of all members of the crew. To make our discussion simple, and avoid the variety of speculations that could develop about what our 'civilized behavior' would have meant to any truly unfortunate survivors, we shall accept that there were none. And that there was no previous knowledge of their existence...by any official agencies of any government. This then becomes all the true and irrefutable evidence necessary to prove the true presence of extra-terrestrial life. But the real story would not just end there.

If any culture on this planet lost a traveling vessel (land-based, airborne, oceangoing or inter-galactic) it would send out as many rescue vessels as may be available or necessary. If for no other reason but to collect the dead and record the final outcome. Should we expect anything less from "otherworld" cultures? Not if we expect them to be at least as civilized as we profess ourselves to be. The American and Soviet governments obviously did not. And note that the Australian government has been the first agency to openly announce the construction of a "spaceport". Are they expecting myths?

Even the most conservative and logical argument would have to accept the following hypothesis as being, at least, strongly probable. An ET ship is on an investigative mission in this solar system. Due to a mechanical failure the vessel crashes in the New Mexico desert, clearly an accident. Witnesses, believing that one our own aircraft has crashed, begin an immediate rescue effort. Together both military and civilian rescuers discover an alien spacecraft and its dead crew.

The initial response is surprise and wonder. The word spreads to all the surrounding area. And from there, through the news services, to the rest of the world. But human nature and government bureaucracy being what they are, the system steps in. Those in control fear that public panic just might race to a dangerous crisis...spurred by the military's hysteria that there will be an offensive invasion. The government must "jump in" and officially slam the door closed. A too-hastily prepared propaganda blitz tries to defuse invasion fears and theological mania with official statements of a hoax. And all present at the rescue are physically and socially threatened to keep the story "official". Panic is thwarted, security is protected, and their own self-importance is reinforced. Then, the real military and scientific investigations are monitored, very desperately.

Sometimes later a rescue vessel for the otherworld arrives. Through their own means of science and communication, they discover the story of their comrades. And of our (society's) potential fear of their presence. For the sake of their respected dead, the alien rescuers must make some kind of official contact with the local authorities; in this case, the U.S. government, through the authority of the President. But based on the available information they have gathered, this must be done under the strictest security (on both sides). Hopefully, they would have adopted a policy similar "Star Trek’s Prime Directive. Now, some dialogue is established, and they are informed of the final disposition of their personnel and their property.

A very practical application of this theory (in terms of our historical behavior) could read as follows: the rescue vessel arrives. Monitors radio broadcasts, and military communications, and receive newspaper reports of the accident and the situation. They determine that "first contact" with the President cannot be done openly (just drop in on the White House lawn) without causing hysterical panic from the military and the public. Due to the overwhelming military security around the President, the rescuers must recruit the assistance of someone who can come and go with some measure of "personal freedom", without all the security (probably someone like Adlai Stevenson). It could be that the vast number of observed and recorded of UFO sightings over the White House and Capitol Building during the year 1952, were specifically designed to impress upon the President of the United States the need to believe in the chosen emissary.

Through this special emissary a meeting is established with the President (Dwight D. Eisenhower) and the aliens...in a remote area specifically designed to allow these ambassadors to come and go unseen. (What better place for such meetings as Camp David, an isolated recreational area purchased by Dwight Eisenhower and dedicated to the "Presidency" of the United States in perpetuity.) Additionally, some program would be established to maintain and continue the dialogue between the two worlds. The commitment of Camp David to the use of all future Presidents would provide a place should continual contact exist. Due to time and spatial realities, a date would probably be selected to indicate the return of "official representatives" of the otherworld's socio/political mission. An established date on which both worlds will openly announce their presence. This date would be selected at a time which would allow the Terran government (America) the necessary opportunity to develop the best proper social environment of acceptance.

Of course, the American government built this new "environment" of mutual peace and commerce on another lie. It can be readily assumed that "we" lied to "them", in that we told them that the crash was so absolutely devastating that there was no "physical evidence" left to return, but some small pieces of metal. "We" would appropriately feel it not relevant or intelligent (militarily, that is) to inform "them" that we had collected the undestroyed bodies and technology of "their" vessel. Personally, this author doesn't believe that "their" mission here was "completely peaceful and aboveboard", but I surely do hope that they weren't stupid enough to believe in our "sincerity".

Due to the vast, open and undenied spying machines developed between the multitude of narrow-minded governments on this planet, other political organizations would have to have discovered the actuality of this hypothesized dialogue, if not the exact information. Especially, the best equipped amongst them, the Soviet Union. Now, Mankind does honestly know that it is not the ultimate intelligence and most accomplished specie in the universe. So what does the American government do? First, advance public opinion to accept the probability of the arrival of such representatives as a real outcome. But how?

By utilizing the one technique that always works best. Reverse psychology. Knowing that the majority of the populous will oppose any firm government policy, on any subject, the official story becomes that the Roswell Incident was an elaborate hoax, and that all subsequent reports on UFOs, Close Encounters, and Abductions have been in serious error. Then assign a very, very special detail the responsibility of invalidating any information which might come to light. The United States government openly and adamantly professes that there is no evidence, or reason to believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life. Nature then takes its own course, people would earnestly strive to prove the existence of ETs, if for no other purpose than to confirm the government's cover-up. The fact that the government directly participates in the occasional "leaks" of information, factual and rumor, never occurs to the skeptical public. For the sake of political animosity, the Soviet government would readily pronounce that evidence exists in rural Russia. However, to demonstrate their own desire to impress the aliens with their ability to enjoin communications they would never produce such evidence.

Perhaps, this information added to the apprehension between the superpowers, for being "first" into the Space Race. Whoever held domination of Man's interstellar accessibility would become the force to deal with by any other interstellar organization. Only political animosity could dwarf the monumental meaning of the others' existence. And, perhaps, radio astronomers already do communicate with other systems. They just don't feel we're ready to believe in them, yet. Or, official support means that we don't have any right to know they have already opened communications.

Nature did take its own course. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world began to see, speak with, and travel with "alien travelers" from at least five (5) separate extraterrestrial cultures. Several governments around the Earth have open and official policies for the prompt response and investigation of all such reports. While the United States has adamantly maintained its official policy of denial and delusion. There are hundreds of thousands of still photos, 16mm and 35mm home movies, and videotape, shot by amateurs and news professionals. And public opinion polls show that 1 in 5 Americans truly believe they have had some kind of personal contact with extraterrestrial aliens. That's several million people who believe in ETs, and believe the American government is simply lying to them about the truth.

Until today, when we have whole scientific and politic subcultures which vigorously support and promote the existence and imminent arrival of intelligent, civilized, extra-terrestrial communities. There are a multitude of books and programs which specifically promote our own travels to distance stars, establish our proper response and behavior during such contacts, and constitute our responsibilities and limitations once we do arrive. Films dramatize and glorify the explorations of such worlds. There are even political organizations founded for the expressed and specific purpose of lobbying and convincing the elected government to change its present official policy toward the non-existence of ETs.

On the other hand, there are a vast collection of critics, as well. And those just trying to get on the bandwagon of money to be made out of this arena. Unfortunately, the majority of these dissenters come from the religious/theological institutions, who see their whole way of life threatened by any realization that Man is not the true and ultimate center of the universe. The immovable barriers of their religious contexts prevent open-minded insight to accept the reality, or to accept even the potentiality. These opponents still challenge the scientific evidence of evolution, stellar astronomy, genetic engineering, and the intelligence of dolphins, whales and chimpanzees. If they can't accept what they can see, we cannot expect them to accept what they will not.

There are also many scientists who publicly challenge the reports of extra-terrestrial life. Most feel threatened because their professional careers pivot on theories that would make them look foolish, in the eyes of their colleagues, if aliens really did exist. Some are those who have personally worked on related "government" investigations and are held in some economic or professional blackmail scheme, so they will be seen in opposition to public opinion. This is not just an assumption: J. Allen Hynek started out working for the government denouncing UFO events, only to discover evidence that made him change his research in favor; Carl Sagan became his career in favor, until funding for his research grants created the environment where he had to take a stance against UFOs.

So, where are these galactic ghosts? Hypothetically, they are already here...or on their way. Expecting to meet us in an open and public forum of acceptance and communal interaction, they hope. Are they really friendly? Are We?

There are other aspects at work here, that are probably not going to be officially recognized as part of this policy program. This is the development of a global social consciousness. Happily begun, totally unexpected, political upheavals recently towards a common ground or planetary social policy (called democracy, for sake of a better title). The so-called secretive access to other peoples' government records. The acceptance of more than one government toward the existence and presence of ETs (such as Australia, Belgium, Puerto Rico and Russia). And the real need for a planetary awareness of ecology and socio/economic progress. If guests are coming (or are here), we don't want to look like sloppy, bickering hosts. Do We?

Another important aspect of the UFO experience is the ever increasing number of recorded and believable reports of abductions by ET aliens. The in-depth mass of serious and qualified research, by interested professionals (military, psychology and science), has established the basic patterns of what these aliens look like, how they perform their duties, and what they appear to desire from their secret research. The very hard part of this investigation has been the real and eventual goals of their labor. But some value can be put to their recorded actions and behavior.

The pattern of the breeding programme suggests that at least one alien culture (the Little Greys) is using human eggs and sperm to produce, or reproduce, a hybrid specie between the original races of them and us. Using the basic descriptions of the Taller and Smaller Beings, as established by Budd Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs in their separate research, we can see the patterns of this thought. The Smaller Beings appear to be the product of introducing unfertilized human eggs with alien DNA. This produces individuals with no separate individuality (clones). The Taller Beings appear to be the product of fertilized human eggs being introduced with alien DNA, and alien eggs with human DNA. This results in individuals who have the semblance of male/female traits, even if only accepted by the psychic understanding or link between the capturers and the victims.

Both subspecies, during incubation, develop the traits of the most dominant genes available to that individual. The victims only see those individuals who have developed the dominant physical characteristics of the alien race. The Taller Beings have received certain human traits which give them the ability to adequately response to and communicate with the human victims during the abduction period. The reported actions of the Smaller Beings indicate that they have little, if any, individual ability to response to emotional reactions of human guests in their research. This is probable a genetic effect. A serious question is: do individuals in the subspecies develop with dominant human physical traits? Or are they eliminated during fetal or infant development?

Human females are used as incubators during the first trimester of some fertilization, then the fetuses are removed, to be raised in alien laboratories for the rest of the gestation period. Both male and female human donors are required to bond with certain infants and small children created by this process. Since not all offspring are involved in the bonding process, it can be assumed that those children have been chosen to become Taller Beings and require some human emotional contact for their future duty responsibilities.

The information from which this last set of descriptions was made did not come from one or two "peculiar", possibly "mentally retarded", human witnesses. It came from hundreds of reported, recorded and researched psychological, physical and historical records of dozens of individuals (who have come forward). There must be dozens of people who have experienced the very same kind of "treatment", but have seen the public reactions to such reports and do not wish to be humiliated for something they "know" to be true and frightening.

During many of these abductions, the human subjects are introduced to informational material for later reference. On one particular trip, one young man was given specific knowledge that was not remembered until he was later under hypnosis. He was apparently shown a massive nuclear explosion. When questioned about it, he believed it was the earlier bombing of Hiroshima. But the alien interacting with him, told the young man that this was a very much larger one, in the future. And that this explosion would occur in the young man's lifetime. The young man was 19 years old at the time of his remembered experience, in 1976. During this abduction, the young man was informed that this promised explosion would occur one month prior to his fortieth birthday, which would happen in 1997 (no event occurred – but, did some government listen to me and prevent it?). Since we really don't know anything about this species, we have no way of knowing if they are clairvoyant, from the future, or just wishful thinking. However, based on the probabilities, we really should accept this information is in our own self-interest. It is only another aspect of the puzzle that warns us, we are expected to destroy ourselves (or at least try real hard) within the span of this last decade...the 1990s.

There have been abductees, who during regression therapy, have described their experience with these entities, where the discussion included an explanation that these outsiders were studying humans, because they cannot understand how we get “mind” and “spirit” from biological adaptations. Especially the Greys, are created through lab cloning, and as such do not receive “a soul”, the way we do. They may be trying to develop hybrids with characteristics to provide this “magical” effect for their own specie.

Perhaps their breeding program was specifically designed to begin the preparation of a brand new race. A hybrid of their species and ours, specifically created to assume control of this world upon our suicidal destruction. Knowing that we cannot prevent the destruction, because we are not capable of achieving a higher spiritual level of development, the aliens are trying to increase the potential for someone to survive afterwards.

We contaminate the entire environment with toxic gases, water pollution, nuclear waste, and self-generating human garbage. We continually build and design new weapons of mass-destruction. We preach peace and brotherly love, with automatic machine-guns strapped to our sides. Why, then, should we find it strange, or revolting, that someone else is planning to clean up the mess? When property owners begin to disregard their homes and lawns, don't other property owners just wait for the foreclosure, without feeling guilty? It's the very same principle, folks. If this is the essence of the aliens' breeding program, and we now know about it, then they are really trying to do something for our benefit. If this doesn't motivate us to become much better homeowners, we surely can't complain when our neighbors buy the property...from the foreclosure auction.

Though the Little Greys are the most known and publicized aliens, there are at least two other physically different species. There are rare reports of aliens which look like humanoid lizards, and all of these reports involve the humans being physically threatened by the lizard people during the contact. Then being physically threatened by the ever-present "black suits" (the secret government agency totally responsible for defusing such reports). Then there are reports of humans being contacted by aliens who communicate through telepathy, and describe themselves as beings of "pure energy" (the evolutionary progression of Mankind in another couple of million years). There are, apparently, two cultures involved in the telepathic communication contacts. One comes from the Pleisades, a cluster galaxy in our neighborhood (astronomically speaking), and the other reportedly comes from the Andromeda system.

Regardless of the number of species or cultures, there is one very disturbing "fact" presented in these thousands of reports and observations. These "people" are here, the governments of the world know it, and they are conducting "experiments, investigations and research" within the human community. Without the expressed written permission of the individuals or societies involved. Observing that even though they have arrived, we still have wars, pollution, terminal diseases (especially AIDS), and gas-burning cars, it must be acknowledged that these "alien" cultures are not here for mutual exchange and the cultural benefit of Mankind. And, that some government agencies are actively participating in the protection and privilege of "their" right to conduct such experimentation. What really is their final goal(s)?

For the last fifty years UFOs have been a regular item of discussion at family gatherings, business conventions, and on psychiatric couches. But they are not the exclusive material of our modern, "nuclear cold war" mentality. History is replete with descriptions of "strangers who fly through the sky" (and I ain't talking about the Wright Brothers.) From dozens of Sumerian and Akkadian tablets to the Book of Ezekiel (Old Testament) to the Mayan belief in Quetzalcoatl (sp?) to the Dreamtime of the Australian Aborigine. These are all individuals and groups from which the present-day skeptics can "blow off" as primitives or fools. But, that won't discount the vast number of such UFO sightings by combat pilots from the reports of "ghost rockets" and "foo-fighters" to the "flying saucers" of Korea and Vietnam. There are even reports of UFO sightings during the most recent Gulf War "wars" in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.

The fact is that these otherworld cultures are monitoring every aspect of our daily life. Sometimes like scientists in the laboratory, or theologians in the confessional, they watch us go through our daily routines of killing others and ourselves (genocide and suicide), without so much as a "how do you do". At other times, perhaps, there have been some very sympathetic individuals who have tried to "help" Man grow up. It may sound too "farfetched", that this author is reaching too deep into my own imagination for guesses, but alien abduction could be the explanation for some of "Man's" apparent "great leaps forward". Such as Man's discovery of "fire" and the "plow", Piri Reis knowing just how to draw complete maps of the world, Ezekiel seeing the Earth from space, Copernicus being able to "see" just how the solar system functioned, Newton developed the theory of gravity (I never could buy the idea of seeing the apple fall then writing a series of mathematical probabilities), Pasteur's principles that led to vaccines for disease, and Einstein's first vision of the theory of "black holes", which he couldn’t see. Could another answer to these events be the presence of the Schumann Resonances, in the form of the Akashic Records.

The fundamental appearance and mystery of "crop circles" is the most recent oddity within the game of Ufology. The mystical, over-night creation of these massive, intricate and intrinsic symbols has developed into another "fringe" science. Several hoaxers claim they can re-create the circles, artificially, thereby voiding the circles of any value. Several seriously earnest researchers claim that they can "read" the symbols, through their communication with certain alien groups. And the majority wonder at the presence and symbolism of the circles, without having any points of reference for interpreting them. But the crop circles do have two major points of reference. One for interpreting their symbolism, and one for proving that those who "can" make them have been here for hundreds of centuries. Researching the most recent development of crop circles, for say the past thirty years, one learns that in that beginning the symbols were individually large (equal to the size of those found within the past few years), but they were very "simple". Single symbols, individual letters and words as it were. As each year past, and the reports continued, the symbols expanded, developing into phrases and sentences. Until within the last five years the number of reported crop circle sightings have become so "complicated" as to be complete thoughts or messages. And the fact is, someone within "our" community does know how to read and interpret those thoughts and messages. That's a government secret I would like to have whispered in my ear.

In the apparent face of such partisan "outside" influences, Mankind (the whole planetary social community) must come to the self-realization that we are not now, but must become very soon, one people, one society, and one world. Personally, for myself, this author would readily welcome the first open contact. Simply to put the whole matter to rest finally. For better or worst it will be the final push for Mankind towards its ultimate destiny and responsibility: to protect and maintain the care and existence of its only home...the very beautiful and fragile planet Earth. No amount of religious protestation and condemnation has ever been able to accomplish this single goal. Perhaps, finally meeting someone else's "god" just might.

Chapter 15: Genesis, And the Original Sin

The traditional Judeo-Christian ethic has pumped into Mankind, for about 5,000 years, the ideology of the "original sin". In its historical reference, this proclivity was Adam's failure to obey God's order with regard to just one tree. Or, in its most parochial view, Adam and Eve's realization of their own sexual beingness proved stronger than their filial piety. Crudely put, they got kicked out of the garden for having sex.

For centuries theologies, philosophies and social sects have argued this subject. Some just denounce the argument that it is all the woman's fault...condemning all women as sinful and weak. Some denounce, in totality, the existence of the Garden of Eden, therefore there was no sin. Some argue that each of us must suffer a personal punishment (born into sin) for the action of some, probable or not, very decadent ancestor...until we seek our own salvation (baptism). Some even argue that any question of any aspect of this book (Genesis: see Forward, page 9), constitutes condemnation in an eternal Hell. Others simply argue that God does not exist, therefore, any discussion with regard to any of His actions is only academic. The truly marvelous miracle in all this is how so many, with so many different views, can all be so wrong.

Is that hypocritical? Is it heretical? Probably, by most popular standards. But more likely, it is accurate. The Book of Genesis, as it is interpreted in the English vernacular, reports that God did say unto Adam that he should rule over the plants of the Garden and the beasts thereon. That duty included naming each kind, and ensuring the proper care and welfare of each. The failure to maintain and protect the Tree of Knowledge was only one small part of that rather important task. Now, allowing God the benefit of the doubt. If He suffered so much that He found it necessary to throw these two incompetent caretakers out of the Garden, there would have to have been more than just one single infraction. Therefore, the act of eating just one "apple" as being the "original sin" lacks a great deal of credibility.

Then what was the "all-fired, disgusting original sin"? Sex? Hardly. God wouldn't have invented it if there was any "wrong" attached to it. (He is omniscient after all.) No, the original sin, assuming that the Garden of Eden is not a theological myth, is still being incurred today. And by every self-righteous, sanctimonious, self-centered organization and individual which promotes the falsehoods of the "apple" and the "body". Adam and Eve just couldn't cut the mustard, they couldn't care for the world that God had given to them. Like us, they must have polluted the waters and the air, and ignored the needs of the fauna and the flora. The bounties of their world had come too easily, and were meant to last forever, so they saw no need to believe that what they did, or failed to do, would ever have any lasting effect.

Every parent has faced the same kind of pain and frustration at some point in their attempts to raise sound and responsible adults of their children that God must have faced in the Garden. He must have overlooked several other infractions. He must have counseled both on any number of occasions about their behavior. And He must have felt very disseminated by the need to banish His own children. But sometimes no one has any other choice. They had already seen Him punish Lilith for being too self-involved, why would they believe He would let them slide?

And, if this is merely a religious tale to marvel children and awe adults, it is still the most significant and prophetic lesson ever recounted. Because, folks, we are still committing the same sin today. We are not fulfilling our responsibilities. We are not taking care of the beautiful Garden we live in. In fact, we are actively and rapidly killing the Garden, and ourselves. If after this very personal and direct revelation, you still fail to recognize the truth that the "original sin" is ecological genocide, then each of us are condemned, and must continue to suffer the punishment of being "born into sin". Perhaps, at least some will seek the salvation which comes from real ecological protection.

If two people were condemned and expelled from Eden because they could not competently perform the simple task assigned to them. What can you say about eight billion people who can't learn from such a historical precedent? Personally, I believe that given the choice, Eve would be extremely satisfied with God's personal punishment for her participation: labor pains (Genesis). It sure beats the Hell out of His Gifts to us: perpetual fear and pain in a thoroughly carcinogenic environment. Some people say God has no sense of humor. Regardless of whether you are of any particular religious philosophy, or a devout atheist, you have to see the relevance of the story of Genesis to our own time. Perhaps this same thing happened to our real ancestors, somewhere else, sometime before, as well.

The other side of this coin is: what if the fringe is correct? What if the story of the Garden of Eden is a fictional representation of an "alien" genetic experiment, creating "intelligent" Homo-Sapien from Neanderthals. What if the present breeding program of the "Little Greys" is nothing more than an extenuation of the original program that began with Adam and Eve.

As frightening and heretical as this idea is, it also explains all the aspects of the Biblical story, including those strange little questions that teachers avoid answering in Bible School. Such as, if Adam and Eve were alone, and got expelled from the Garden, then went their own ways (Adam would have blamed Eve for getting him kicked out and she would have blamed him for not defending her – the second divorce), who did Adam find to be the mother of Cain and Abel? And where did Cain and Abel's wives come from? What if they all came from the original Neanderthal population? That would also explain why natural psychic talents would become recessive genes. And the Garden of Eden "could" have been located on the island of Atlantis.
